Carried by Angels

“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried…” (Luke 16:22)

Let us not mess with the so called Bible scholars that make everything seem complicated and impersonal, just take the words of Jesus at face value:  believers that die IN CHRIST, really SHALL NEVER DIE, and are taken immediately by angels, escorted as a place of honor at the side of Abraham, the original father of faith.  Like Dr. Wolber of Ouachita Baptist in Bible classes would say, “Just let the Bible say what it is trying to say”; and hearing here in Luke 16:22 Jesus is trying to say…

{not trying to say with Jesus who never tried to prove what He was saying since He came from heaven and knew the mind and heart of God the Father}

…that persons like Ann and the humble beggar are escorted immediately upon death to the side of Abraham while in contrast to make the angels stand out, “the rich man also died, and was buried…”  In the photo above, unfortunately the angels are not seen; and often when loved ones like Ann and mother die, we are inclined to look for both the soul and angels floating upward.  Yet this is the world of the unseen, much greater than the world of the seen, and we do not see what is really happening in our very presence.  No music, no sound, no spectacular light; just the powerful messenger angels of God escorting the dead Person to a place they have never been and do not even know the way although like Annie, they know it is to be a banquet with Jesus…and at the side of Abraham, the original man of faith and father of faith among God’s people.

Ann, who love the Bible and reveled in it, loved to be at the side of Abraham and at a banquet with Jesus.  I think Ann would want me to share what happened a night before her passing on August 24, 2016.  Wish it had been possible to hear the whole prayer that interrupted my daughter and me in the night, a surprise since it had become so hard for Ann to talk.  However, it is best left as a secret prayer between Ann and her Heavenly Father.  And when we came into her room, in the always nature of Ann for the concern of others, her words changed from prayer to the Father through Jesus, to concern for us, starting with, “don’t worry about me, I will be okay for I am going to a banquet…”  Then getting a breath while she was questioned about the banquet, where and who, she replied “a banquet with Jesus.

Ann never wasted her words of personal faith, and she had in mind specifics of a banquet with Jesus, and knowing her love of the writings of John MacArthur and the MacArthur Bible…

NOTE:  Someday it can be found in the many Bibles and books that she wrote in.

…the following from John MacArthur was found online and in an article entitled Abraham’s Bosom, Paradise, and Heaven:

” Luke 16:22 Abraham’s bosom. This same expression (found only here in Scripture) was used in the Talmud as a figure for heaven. The idea was that Lazarus was given a place of high honor, reclining next to Abraham at the heavenly banquet.”

                       Simple exegesis of Luke 16:22,

                   the straightforward words of Jesus:

First the Teaching of Jesus in

Luke 16:22-26:

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into
Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his
bosom.
24
And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the
tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25
But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise
Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26
And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

We have gotten so confused about the Person after death. {Jesus used the personal name of Lazarus, although the rich man was just a rich man.} First, it is clear from the clear teachings of Jesus that:
1. The actual real person, in this case a beggar named Lazarus, but one respeted and loved by God was taken by the angels in Abraham’s bosom.
2. The rich man just died and was found in hell, looking across a great gulf saw (1) Abraham, and (2) Abraham’s bosom.
3. The angels at death immediately escort the real Person to the location of Abraham’s bosom.
4. Abraham’s bosom is the key to understanding the location of where Ann is now!
