1. “‘And it shall come to pass in the LAST DAYS, says God…”

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

Just listen carefully to the Apostle Peter for the beginning of the Last Days, “But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel…”
1. “THIS IS WHAT”. Obviously the THIS refers to what has just happened as recorded in Acts 2, and the WHAT refers to what Joel predicted in Joel 2.
a. The “THIS”: (Acts 2:1-4)
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
b. The “WHAT”; (Acts 2:17-18)
“‘And it shall come to pass in the LAST DAYS, says God That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.”
(1) This is What Jesus predicted would happen after His Ascension as the Holy Spirit came mightily to take His place on earth, and in fact told the Apostles to wait for it to happen: (Matthew 24:49)
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
(2) This was a one time historical event like the birth of Jesus Christ. the grand entrance of the Holy Spirit in power and glory sent just like Jesus by God the Father. (John 16:7-11)
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.  And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.”
(3) It is jumping ahead from the Gospel shall be preached to every nation line to the simultaneous line of the Holy Spirit versus Satan in the world line; however, it is important now to see that this work of the Holy Spirit is what kept Satan bound for one thousand years. Satan could no deceive whole nations with the Holy Spirit convicting those same nations of sin, righteousness, and judgment. In fact the motivating force for the church to preach the Gospel in every nation is and was the Holy Spirit.

NOTE:   Now look at it again, and read carefully with understanding.   If a Bible expositor or Bible reader does not get it straight on when the last days began, immediately after the Ascension of Jesus with the historical coming of the Holy Spirit to earth in great power….THEN their whole eschatological scheme will be messed up, most often it is because it is what they want and to be so for personal reasons, not according to the Word of God.  They just do not have the right to tamper with our Bible and Truth.
