PTB 2-5c: Woes on Earth versus God in Control!

Obviously the world’s attention has been gained with the coronavirus, and at least 50 percent of Americans think it is an apoplectic end time event, a few really attached to the Bible believe it is the loosing of the angry Satan and his other fallen angels (they know the time is short) started by the events after the sounding of the trumpet by the fifth angel of Revelation 9.  This is only the beginning of the little season of final tribulation, and we are specifically told of the WOE on the inhibiters of the earth.

Revelation 12:9-12

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

Granted Revelation almost no where in the contents is easy, but with the active angels in heaven following the instructions and controls of God the Father, powerful angels at that, we know that even with the release of Satan to do damage on earth, God is in control; and in spite of this final tribulation of the Woes’, a seal of the signature of God has been placed on the forehead of every servant of God that is IN CHRIST.  In Christ is a phrase of Ephesians so that herein we are melded one of the main convictions of Ephesians—that the best description of Christians is IN CHRIST with the signature of God in our foreheads of the book of Revelation.  ALIAS, GOD IS IN CONTROL DURING THE FINAL TRIBULATION STARTING WITH THE RELEASE OF SATAN, AND ALL THOSE SERVANTS OF GOD WITH THE SIGNATURE OF GOD ON THEIR FOREHEADS, THE SAME AS THOSE IN CHRIST OF EPHESIANS, ARE PROTECTED BY ANOTHER POWERFUL ANGEL WITH THOSE INSTRUCTIONS FROM ALMIGHTY GOD HIMSELF.

NOTE:  Of course according to the Bible in II Thessalonians 2 what has held Satan and his followers into captivity has been the binding power of the Holy Spirit, and what releases Satan and the woes is the withdrawal of the Holy Spirit from earth.  Why?  Many people ask, did God the Father withdraw God the Spirit from the earth where He was convicted the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; and the obvious answer is when God warned us that He would not always strive with man.

Genesis 6:3

“And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh…

Also we know from Ephesians that sins of Christians during the falling away that came just before the release of Satan, both in preparation for the Second Coming and the new heaven and the new earth, that those sins so grieve the Holy Spirit that finally during the period of the increase of lawlessness and godlessness, finally God reaches the decision that this is it, and shortly time will be no more.

3-8:  God is in Control.

We all know that often it seems like with the god of entropy and physics for John Quinn, there is no control and giant purpose in this universe, or like the energy of some spirit of Shirley that intervenes periodically, and that reminds us of the MTD beliefs of the millenniums and their parents and teachers.

The famous in Ireland Shirley McMichael allowed me to make the following comment in her John McMichael memorial of 31 years:

“Jerry McMichael Thank you Shirley McMichael, that had to be hard and at the moment don’t know what to say, maybe later; but to express my own convictions that God is in control and it is by the grace of God that any of us live and continue to live. Also think that I need to share equally with you the true story of when I died 6 times almost 8 years ago while playing tennis on the McLeland tennis courts, well 3 times on the court and 3 in the ambulance. To be brief because this is your story and John’s, not mine, the true miracle was after rehab when the doctors and others wanted to implant an AED close to my heart which was turned down for a poor quality of life, then later my blood flow increased beyond the need. Excuse me for saying like the ER doctor at John Peter Smith Hospital that yes “it was a medical miracle”, and the answer to prayers of my wife and loved ones, and Coreg and other medicines, a good open-heart surgeon; but it MUST BE STATED the overall miracle and overseeing miracle was God our Heavenly Father and his guardian angel like you stated. thanks again Shirley McMichael and hope this helps some without intruding on your story that all McMichaels would love to hear about the most famous of McMichaels, John and Shirley. With your permission and I will wait for that, would like to share it in the Scots, Ulster Scots, and McMichael group.

3-9:  Security of and in the World.

There is little doubt that the Millenniums and their American society, also Shirley and John feel secure by being the majority in the world.  With your patience and forbearance, it is necessary to be frank about these matters from God Himself and Jesus as recorded in the Bible, the Word of God.  Like Martin Luther, “We stand on the Word of God, we can know nothing less”; however more than that we know of a surety and the Bible is the Word of God:  divine in origin, sufficient in its message for life and living, dynamic alive and with high fidelity on communications when the internal rules for understanding in the Bible are met, self-interpretive with the ASPI version, and if educated men like Christian Smith of Notre Dame and the average citizen knew this they would not make the excuse and excuses of “there are too many translations of the Bible”.  This is worse than the many who say, “Physics and Math are too hard to understand”, which really says either they have had some unpleasant experience with or have not studied it.  (At least John wants to claim a god of physics and entropy and hope he will listen to Millikan in “Evolution in Science and Religion” about absolute truth and relative truth.)

  1.  First, Jesus said the majority would not believe and will go the broad way of ease and comfort and pride of life to destruction.

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”  (Matthew 7:13,14)

  1.  Secondly, the pride of life and other lusts and sins are not part of the original creations of God, and WILL PASS AWAY, no eternallife.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world.  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”  (I John 2:15-17)

  1.  Later comments on the beliefs of the millenniums and their society, but for now the Got Questions have a sufficient answer from the Bible.

“The most important point concerning Moralistic Therapeutic Deism, however, is not the difference between theism and deism, but how far removed from biblical truth some young people are. The beliefs of MTD are not isolated to Millennials, either. It seems that many people simply view God as a “cosmic genie,” a “divine bellhop,” or a roadside assistance mechanic—you don’t know Him or need to, but you can call Him when you are broken down and He will come and get you going again. The most important thing, according to MTD, is to be good, nice, and tolerant, and God will ultimately receive you into heaven. This view is probably held by a lot of Americans and seems to be becoming the dominant “civic religion,” which emphasizes the horizontal relationships with other people but minimizes a relationship with God. In short, MTD puts humanity at the center and, ultimately, each individual at the center of his or her own belief system.

Biblical Christians will have problems with all 5 key points of Moralistic Therapeutic Deism:

1. Not just “a god” exists, but the God of the Bible, who has revealed himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Whoever does not honor Jesus Christ as God does not honor God (see
John 5:23).
2. God does not just want people to be “nice” but commands that they obey Him. He is the One who defines good and nice. He calls sin “sin” and promises to judge it (see
Romans 1:18–32).
3. The central goal of life is to give glory to God. A by-product may be that we feel good about ourselves, but that is not the goal (see
Romans 11:36).
4. Our primary goal as believers is to be constantly in tune with God, following His leading and in daily fellowship with Him. We are to “pray without ceasing” (
1 Thessalonians 5:17).
5. No one is good enough to go to heaven. All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (
Romans 3:23); no one is good enough, and that is why we need Jesus. He lived the perfect life that we could not, and He died to pay for our sin so that we might be made acceptable to God. “‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed’” (1 Peter 2:24).

Moralistic Therapeutic Deism is not an official religion. Probably no one would ever identify himself as a “Moralistic Therapeutic Deist.” The real problem is that
moralism is not Christianity, and most people who hold these beliefs are likely to identify themselves as Christians when in fact they are living to glorify themselves!”

3-10:  Exegesis of Ephesians the Goal, probably more Analysis since there is only One ASPI interpretation of the Bible (II Peter 1:19-21), so a Preview for encouragement of Chapter 3 of ONE commentary, chapter 1 of Ephesians.

Possibly you are wondering with this transition chapter from Paul’s statement of faith and practice in Ephesians of chapter one, really an outline, paraphrase, and exegesis, to the next chapter three, WHERE IS THE EXEGESIS OF EPHESIANS?  So, at the end of this chapter we want to give you a brief preview of Chapter 3 on “IN CHRIST”, which is an exegesis of Ephesians chapter 1:

IN CHRIST (Ephesians 1)

Chapter one of Ephesians immediately turns the reader’s eyes upon Jesus and then counts one by one the many spiritual blessings that belong to the Christian in heavenly realms, in Christ. one “From Paul  ” in the first two words. with “Christ Jesus” used twice in the first twenty-two verses (NEV), is addressed to Christians without the use of the word “Christian”, “to God’s people at Ephesus, believers incorporate in Christ Jesus.” (1:1) How do you address a group of Christians? The word “Christian” is found only three times in the Bible in the King James Version; In Acts 11:26 disciples of Christ existed before they were first called Christians at the city of Antioch; and as far as we know from the Bible, Jesus never called them Christians. God the Holy Spirit inspired Paul in Ephesians, as translated by the New English Version (NEV), to call them (1) God’s people at Ephesus, with the name of the local church left blank, to be filled in by the reader of this circular letter; and (2) believers incorporate in Christ Jesus, placing the emphasis on Jesus and on “believers incorporate in”. Ephesians 1 in the KJV addresses as “the saints at Ephesus. and the faithful in Christ Jesus ” All this reminds us that it is not so important what we are called as it is that we are identified with Christ and that we are God’s people “at” the particular location where we are “commissioned by the will of God”, If not as an “apostle” like Paul, still as an essential. member of a local body. knit together with all the rest.

“In Christ” is the favorite choice of Paul and God in the first chapter of Ephesians as the status and standing of the Christian is described. Ten times in Ephesians 1 in the NEV the words “in Christ” are used. It is a praise to Christ for the spiritual. blessings that Christians have in heavenly realms while Paul breathlessly enumerates them in one long sentence from verse three to fourteen in the original Greek.

Do not allow all this Scofield propaganda, backed by Satan who is out to deceive all the nations to bring them to the final battle at Megiddo, enhance your confusion of the antichrist with the man of sin, or son of perdition of II Thessalonians, and the beast and the prophet of Revelation.  The same Apostle John that from the human side wrote the book of Revelation wrote also I and II John with the only 5 usages of the word antichrist in the Bible, explaining that there were already man antichrist in the world.

The only good interpreter of the book of Revelation is the book of Daniel with the background of angels and visions in heaven of the future, and since Daniel records explanations of the visions and images.

The Five Sweeps of Daniel

While I target for “last things”, sometimes called “end times” or eschatology, is Mark 13 with additional understanding from Matthew 24 and Luke, the legitimate place to start with this awesome subject of last things is in the book of Daniel, after we have gained some perspective from the Apostle Peter‛s great sermon on the day of Pentecost, as he explained exactly what was happening with Coming of the Holy Spirit to earth in a special way.  Peter and the Prophet Joel explain each other, typing the events of that day together with the “last days” as Peter quotes from Joel 2:28-32 on the famous subject of the Day of the LORD from the Old Testament.  Far better than running off with charts and weird drawings, and interpretations as weird is it to start with something as basic and easy to understand as Peter‛s message with his New Testament interpretation of “last days” and the Day of the LORD mentioned so often in the Old Testament, and always with references to the cessation of light from the sun, the moon, and the stars.  {That always in New Testament times and today gains attention since the world is quite accustomed to the routine of sunrise, sunset, the stars at night and the moon.}  There were two sayings common among the Hebrews, “tomorrow in Jerusalem” to encourage themselves with better days; and “the Day of the LORD” to denote ultimate justice.  And this is also a good principle of the ASPI and Bible understanding.  Since the Bible is semi-publicly interpreted, in other words of “no private interpretation”, and since what the Apostles say about the Old Testament quotes interprets the Old Testament Prophets, and vice versa, we should start with what is most easily understood in the New Testament and from the Apostles of Jesus Himself in order to understand “last things”. Goodness knows, the struggle for Peter to understand was hard; but he had the help of Jesus, the Master Teacher, and don‛t forget that Jesus after His resurrection was with them 40 days explaining the things of the kingdom before He Ascended on to heaven.  Likewise we must remember that Peter now had the help of the Holy Spirit to understand and explain.  We might add that as we get all this information on “last things” from Acts 2, as Peter quotes from Joel 2:28-32, we are also getting info from

Dr. Luke who wrote Acts, and I maintain also from the Apostle Paul who left for him manuscripts for research.

You may want to read Acts 2:14-21 right now.  You will see that the major part of it is Joel 2:28-32; and you will note how the Apostle Peter in an effort to explain that the other disciples were not drunk as it seemed and since it was so early in the day, explained that what was happening there in Jerusalem at that very moment was that which was predicted by the Prophet Joel. “But this is what was spoken by the Prophet Joel….‛  (Acts 2:16)  Okay, we need to nail down quickly certain obvious Biblical facts in order to proceed from the Bible with the wide sweep of eschatology.

First, on this first day of Pentecost after the Ascension was the beginning of the “last days”.  In the Bible, you have “latter times”, end times, and last days; but you can clearly see from the context of Acts, Peter, and Joel that the last days started with the Coming of the Holy Spirit in great power to take the place of Jesus on earth.

Second, and by the way the end of the last days with the Day of the LORD is also given in Joel and from Peter as “the great and awesome {or notable} day of the LORD”.

 The sweep of what happens in-between the beginning and the end of the last days in the order of Joel is:  (1) the power and help of the Holy Spirit becomes more democratic and common during the last days, not like the specialized empowerment of the Old Testament, as say during the period of the Judges; (2) the last days will be a continuous period of signs in the heaven above and the earth beneath, those signs summarized as “blood, fire, and vapor of smoke”—and certainly every year we see those; but (3) just before the Day of the LORD the sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood—obviously the shaking of the heavens and the earth that Paul wrote often of, and the earth melting with fervent heat of which Peter writes; and that leaves for the Day of the LORD itself the Second Coming of Christ and the Judgment Court of which we previously read so much in Daniel; and of course another characteristic of the continuity of the last days is the growth of the kingdom of God as “whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved”.  This would correlate with the Gospel being preached in every nation from Jesus in Mark 13 and Matthew 24.  Also the Fulness of the Gentiles of Paul in Romans.  {We would naturally think that while the final days of this old earth are marred by the Falling Away, that with more and more of the signs in the earth beneath and the heavens above, the extent to which humans, hopefully also Jews, call upon the name of the LORD will increase; and we are inclined to think that this unique combination of Falling Away from the tares and the stumbling will be mixed with new and surprising callings on the LORD which Daniel is told is the time of refinement and making white, alias a final tribulation as contrasted to the Great Tribulation which took place obviously during the first few centuries as the most awesome persecution which if not shortened by God would have even deceived the elect.}

With this simple Bible perspective, we will jump into the first four cycles of Daniel, then add to that the fifth cycle which we did not complete in chapter 1.  The first sweep is given in the first vision that Daniel himself had and of the four beasts, and the peak and valley events are:  (1) God, the Ancient of Days, sitting in Judgment with His court and the power to execute; (2) The Man of Sin, or the Son of Perdition, respectively of the Greek and Roman Empire, like a parable, completely fulfilled in the end time Man of Sin of Paul in II Thessalonians; (3) Other kingdoms under the control and judgment of God and kings given a period of dominion according to the determination of the Ancient of Days;

(4) Establishment {not fulfillment} of the Everlasting kingdom of Christ to rule over all other kings and kingdoms, determined by the Ancient of Days but not truly established on earth until the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; and (5) The Second Coming of Christ to finalize the reign of Christ over all other kingdoms of this earth, and then deliverance to the Great Judge that God may be all in all.

Thus in the simplicities of Peter, Acts, and Joel we have with a first broad sweep of Daniel some of the main events of all time and eschatology.  We can start our table of peaks and valleys.

With the second sweep of Daniel, of course, our radar sweep of the future must continue to peak up some of the previous peaks and valleys; but since we come closer, we will pick up more peaks and valleys, or at least see some of those previous peaks and valleys clearer.  The second sweep is the interpretation of the first vision of Daniel about the four beasts, and we find it we looked at in chapter 1 of this book in Daniel 7:15-27.  (1) Daniel has explained to him that these four beasts, like explanations from Jesus in parables, are four kings, giving some more details— therefore we really do not need to add a peak or valley event here; (2) the focus of Daniel‛s interest is on the details about the little horn, the man of son or perdition so important throughout history and throughout Daniel‛s sweeps, mainly on how he speaks very pompous words against the Ancient of Days  {we will show this addition of detail in the third column of the Table, which is the second sweep of Daniel, and with the color magenta}; (3) the pompous little horn, the man of sin, in his fight against the saints is prevailing {the Falling Away, of course}; (4) the Ancient of Days judges in favor of the saints and the Lord Jesus Christ executes Judgment at His Second Coming; (5) the son of perdition will be a revolutionary that tries to change “times and laws”, and the saints will be given into his hands for a “time, times, and half a time”; (6) The Court of God takes away the dominion of the man of sin and Satan, destroying it forever; and (7) the greatness of the kingdoms of the earth will be over to the Kingdom of the Most High God where the saints will obey and serve Him.
