The Testimony of Jesus

The Testimony of Jesus is “WORSHIP GOD THE FATHER” and that all saints by faith, Jews and Gentiles, will experience the same complete salvation at the Marriage supper of the Lamb of God for “the glory of God”, because that is the way He planned it!

Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”  (Revelation 19:9,10)

1.  It is clear that Revelation 19 has the dominant subject of “WORSHIP GOD” THE FATHER.

Revelation 19:1-7 Exegesis of Worshipping words.

 (1)  And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God…”

“after these things…” After the destruction of Babylon in Revelation 18, can you imagine what John heard.  It was the combined voice of much people in heaven like a huge singing choir saying “Alleluia”.  Finally the multitude under the throne were allowed to see the answer to their prayer of “How Long”, how long it would take after centuries of injustice and persecution to get real justice.  Here, they see part of that justice in Babylon, any large wicked city, fallen because they had the blood in them of the holy apostles and prophets, and the time had finally come according to the prayers of millions of persecuted saints for the Almighty God to avenge their blood.

NOTE:  In these words of worship from heaven, “Salvation, glory, honor, and power to the LORD our God”, we are given some more words for Worship.  Often we in our hearts want to express thanks to God for the blessings He daily gives in our lives and special blessings on special occasions, and we lack the proper words.  Well, here in Revelation 19 and later in the “DEVOTIONALS IN REVELATION” series we will be provided by heaven some proper words, and mainly attitudes to worship God the Father that sits on the great white throne in heaven.

As the destruction as the vengeance of God is turned loose on all the large wicked cities of the world is witnessed in heaven by all—that all is great as there are many elders, numberless multitude, living creatures, and so many angels, they all in heaven of thousands of centuries of God’s persecuted servants, the ALL see justice prevail; and if they see it in heaven, it is as good as done here on earth at the appropriate due time.

Galatians 6:9 encourages us that in due time if we faint not in doing good, we will reap not only our rewards but here in Revelation vengeance and justice on our enemies.

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”  (Galatians 6:9 NJKV)

Rest of the Worship of Him on the Throne from Rev. 19

For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying,

Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him…”

2.  The falling away of the SBC by Scofield mites was more of a seductive spirit that it was of doctrines of devils.

The feud mentalists of the fundamentalists failed faithfulness to the Word of God on two major counts:  (1) They ignored that “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophesy” {that “spirit” is to Worship God the Father, and not the nation of Israel}; and (2) they forgot that Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world” {not a millennium kingdom where the nation of Israel will reign}.  Their God like for Darby, Scofield, and their aggressive disciples of the SBC, became the nation of Israel rather than Jesus; and their kingdom to be served became an Israel on earth, always rejected by Jesus and His true followers.

Scofieldism is not simply a bad attitude on eschatology, it is bad on salvation.  It perverts the whole plan of salvation for God in the world, falsely promoting one kind of salvation for the Jews and another for Gentiles. The testimony of Jesus has two major parts:  (1) “Worship God”, that in the kingdom established on the new earth God the Father might be all in all; and (2) glory to that God that the marriage of the Lamb will come for “all the saints”–

“…for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.”

AND–

“…‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

In this day and time we would call the attitude of the feud mentalists that engineered the warfare and takeover of the SBC as a bad attitude or spirit.  Along the way after Scofield and Chalmers (DTS), they invented a false literal Bible in which the non-existent words in the Bible dominated their thought and spirit, the 3 words of “rapture”, “millennium”, and “dispensationalism”, simultaneously pushing out the true salvation plan of God and of Romans.  Have you ever noticed that II Timothy 4:3,4 speaks of a bad attitude even more than bad and unsound doctrine.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;  and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”  (2 Timothy 4:3-4 NKJV)

The cause of “For the time will come (has come and made clear in the warfare and takeover of the SBC) when they will not endure sound doctrine”, is they were operation “according to their own desires”–Scofield didn’t fool them they were just waiting to be deceived about the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophesy and that the kingdom was indeed of this world:  in other words the desires were the cause and the unsound doctrine the effects.  “Itching ears” is also an internal bad attitude cause, wanting to hear something new about the kingdom and the testimony of Jesus; and the “heaping up of bad teachers” was the result of effect. Turning away from truth was an emotional cause, and the result was FABLES OF SCOFIELDISM IN THE SBC!

Those Scofield mites that divert this testimony of Jesus also pervert the spirit of prophesy, striving to center all prophesy around the nation of Israel rather than that of spiritual Israel of the book of Romans. Thus they have both a bad spirit of prophesy and a bad testimony of Jesus.  You see that is much, much more than eschatology alone. These two causes and failures created the destruction of the SBC.

3.  Bottom Line of the book of Revelation.

Like for first century Christians under the great tribulation, we under the last tribulation need practical messages for the daily life, even beyond the comfort that comes from the assurance that the ultimate justice of God will prevail. You can consider 22:11-21 as the last instructions. Keep living like you live already, the unjust being unjust, the filthy being unfilthy, the righteous as righteous, and the holy as holy (22:11) Hey, just keep doing what you are doing already! You know the consequences of what is done. That will not waiver nor change. God is the same yesterday, today, and eternally. The results are inevitable for the unjust and filthy; and as for the righteous and holy, Jesus is Coming quickly to give to every man rewards according to his works. Jesus is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last. The blessed are those who by doing his commandments prove that they have a right to the tree of life. These will enter into the gates of the holy city. Outside the city are dogs, sorcerers, whoremongers, murderers, idolaters, those that lie and love a lie (22:15). This message is from Jesus and He has given the message to angels to give to the churches. Jesus is the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning star (22:16). The Holy Spirit and the Christ say “Come” to drink of the water of life freely (22:17) If 25 any man who hears or reads the book of Revelation and adds words to it, then God will add to him the plagues of this book (22:18). This is a compulsion to good exegesis. You will hear a lot in this commentary about the Mormons as a good example of the bad practice of “falling” away from sound doctrine to turn away from the truth and ultimately turn into fables. It is not that they are so different from other denominations where church members are also falling away from sound doctrine, it is only that they lead the fleet, so to speak. They need prayer. Two curses are on their head and we need to remind them of these two curses from the Bible: (1) the curse above which comes from adding words to the Bible as the Mormons have actually added the additional words of three more Bibles; and (2) the curse of advocating a reformed gospel that is different from what Jesus gave to the Apostle Paul to deliver in word and print. Recall that isogesis is adding meaning to the Bible. The bottom line of this warning and the next is to not read too much into or out of the original meaning or intention! This is also a clue as to what is the worse that can happen to a person besides their name not being written in the book of life. What are the plagues? Since this is, no doubt, a summary of the wrath of God and the worse that can happen, we will cover it in the next section. If any man takes away from the words of this book, God will take away his name from the book of life and from the holy city, and from all the good things that are written in this book (22:19). Jesus says, “I come quickly” (22:20) It is a shame that we do not let the easiest to understand parts of the Bible be guides for what is more difficult to understand; for example let the simple, straightforward words in II Thessalonians from Paul about the Holy Spirit being withdrawn be a commentary on Satan being released in the book of Revelation. It should be obvious that Satan was bound as the Holy Spirit came in great power on the first day of Pentecost after the resurrection, that the Holy Spirit restrains for an indefinitely long period of time which is represented by the thousand years; and then Satan is released for a short period of time as the Holy Spirit is withdrawn. It is at this period that the United States will have so declined, even as the Roman Empire declined, that it will no longer have the power as it did in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and Kosovo to contain dictatorships. These dictatorships will expand, rule the world, with the elimination of the separation of church and state, and Satan will again deceive the nations as he did during the time of the Roman Empire.

Revelation 4:  The Door Opened to Heaven with a Vision of God and the Lamb of God.

1.  First John is invited to Come up and see what is going to be hereafter, and he went into the Spirit.

2.  Revelation 4, after the detailed messages from Christ to the 7 churches, a door is opened in heaven so that John can see the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY sitting on the throne and next to Him the Lamb of God.

3.  Like a play “a throne was set in heaven”.  Except it was not play, so very real with the best reality in heaven and earth that started with the Throne of God and the Lamb of God.

4.  Around the throne of God were 25 elders with crowns of gold on their head, no doubt evidence that they had received after meritorious service their crowns of life, an no doubt men like Moses, David, Enoch, and Noah.

5.  The visual and sound effects coming from the throne:  lightning, thunder, and voices (John because of his service and taking care of Mary and work among the churches and yet to be a Prophet before Kings, was given a glimpse of God the King in control.

6. Before the throne were 7 Spirits of God, you naturally would expect God the Holy Spirit with God the Father and the Son.

7.  The throne was elaborate because the four living creatures were both in “the midst of it” and all around it.

8.  It would seem that with the living creatures, we have all living Creations of God with heads of an eagle, a calf, a man, and a lion.

Revelation 4

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: andthey rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

NOTE: Worthy is the Lamb, yes, the title of Summer’s book on Revelation, but even more we see is the Almighty LORD God worthy.
