PTB3-11: Words for Worship from Revelation.

.

Early in the book of Revelation, there is so much praise which we can turn into personal prayers, that our prayer cup runs over when we read of the four living creatures that sing day and night, and what the 24 elders say as they Worship God, which by the way is a primary command in the book of Revelation for all Christians.

Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

“Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!”

NOTE:  Holiness is one of the prime characteristics of the Lord God Almighty, and by this title of respect is one with which He likes to be addressed, and of course we want to please God now and eternally.  THAT IS THE PROTOCOL OF HEAVEN!  Even though God is living among us, the book of Revelation says, in eternity I suspect with the whole world there of believers past and present, there can not be much face time with the Heavenly Father.  However as we will see later, He demands that we come once on the Sabbath day and then on all the new moons, which includes family festivals, for Worship.

Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

11 “You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.”

NOTE:  Just as the potter has power over the clay, the Lord God has power over us because He made all of us in the first place and in the beginning.  We would not and could not exist except by the will of God, and we think we are so independent this is hard to get into our heads.  This prayer of the elders can serve to remind us of this.  Can you imagine how grateful we will be to suddenly be in either heaven and the earth, when all else on this old earth is dying, and quickly we have new bodies without frailties that can stand for eternity, wow, praise His holy and righteous and powerful name?

By the way did you know not only is much of the book of Revelation from the book of Isaiah, including the new heaven and the earth, but this chapter 4 of Revelation is almost word for word from Isaiah 6.

6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Above it stood the seraphim’s: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

Then flew one of the seraphim’s unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

12 And the Lord have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.

Marvelous in the Word of God, for way back here in Isaiah we were told that only a tenth of mankind would get to heaven and the new earth, for He says there will be a great forsaking in the land, alias the great apostasy called the Falling Away.

Unless we have some consciousness of how we are and live among a sinful people, our prayers will go no further than the ceiling  certainly not to the throne of God.  Of course, we don’t have the advantage of the vision of God of the great white throne that Isaiah had, and God understands that; however in the Model prayer Jesus taught us (generally called the Lord’s prayer) taught us to pray “forgive our debts as we forgive out debtors”—this is a very advanced prayer and one hard to practice, but we must forgive those who trespass against us just like God would forgive them.

Of course, God had a special mission for Isaiah, who was the court historian responsible for Chronicles and Kinds, it was to as a Prophet to write a book of the 66 of the Bible, and as it turns out the book of Isaiah advanced far beyond many books of the Bible especially on the eschatology of the new heaven and the new earth.  It took a second trip from heaven to earth for the Ascended Christ to set John straight, and hopefully us straight on the revelations of Revelation comparable to Isaiah. (Then we marvel when suddenly we find “the truth is in the Bible our mothers read”, it was in Isaiah and other Prophets of the Old Testament all along.  For such a special mission one of the seraphim’s was sent down from heaven to touch the lips of John with a live coal from the altar of God, John’s iniquity was taken away and his sins are forgiven, a matter which is much easier for us since Jesus has come and died on the cross for our sins, for if we confess our sins, “He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us for all righteousness.”  (By the way, that  is part of our daily prayers we should pray often, “Lord, forgive my sins, and cleanse me from all unrighteousness, created in me a clean heart and a clean spirit and a right attitude.”

Voices in the book of Revelation would almost dominant the visions John saw for us on the isle of Patmos if the visions were not so unique and picturesque, no doubt given to John for us that we might remember what to expect for eternity.  Voices are sometimes those of the spoken word, some voice are sung, and others are shouted.  You will see as we look at “voices” in the book of Revelation, and in particular voices from heaven of prayer and praise!

Isaiah 6, as other Old Testament books like Ezekiel and Daniel set the example for Revelation in visions and voices with Isaiah 6:

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and

his train filled the temple.

2

Above it stood the seraphim’s: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with

twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

3

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full

of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the

midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

6

Then flew one of the seraphim’s unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the

tongs from off the altar:

7

And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken

away, and thy sin purged.

8

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I,

Here am I; send me.”

Like John the revelator, Isaiah saw a vision of the Lord sitting on the throne and in the temple, he saw the vision of the seraphim’s of the unusual con figuration of six wings, two to cover his face, two to cover his feet and two to fly, much like the Apostle John saw the four living creatures with the faces of a man, an eagle, a lion, and a    .  Their Voice in unison with the vision was a cry of prayer and praise, “Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”  It was a short and effective prayer of praise.  So moving was the “VOICE of him that cried” even the door posts moved of the room where Isaiah sat, also the house was    filled with smoke.  Then most importantly the Voce of the Lord Himself spoke.

This method of Bible learning has another value to you, since the book of Revelation is too intense to read at one time, unlike the other books of the Bible,

Short excerpts of the book of Revelation, 22 of them. Provide a sizeable amount to mentally and spiritually handle.
