1. THE END in Revelation 11:15. Cyrus, a friend from Baylor and a Baptist preacher had a favorite saying about last things (eschatology), “What part of END do you not understand?” when confronted with Scofield followers of confusion on the Second Coming and the END. Surely everyone can agree that with the sounding of the… Continue reading Some Short Tips for Getting Real and Relevant on Revelation #1: A little Harmony on Ephesians, Revelation, and I Corinthians about the Church and the Kingdom.

Fables Hidden by Obvious Talents 1. Being in the Falling Away that must come before the Second Coming of Christ, and being that so many doctrinal sound evangelists and pastors agree the time is close for the Second Coming, the present falling away with Christian fables predominating among popular preachers has to be both discerned… Continue reading Fables Hidden by Obvious Talents
What Christian fables do Swaggert and Osteen share in common? It is the Christian fable of self-indulgence and self gratification, Osteen preaches it with a smile and the Swaggerts practice it with unknown tongues. Beside “turning aside into fables” the key phrase of that great passage on the apostasy of the Falling Away that of II Timothy 4:3,4 is “out of their own desires”. THEIR OWN DESIRES speaks in the Word of God of self-indulgence and self-gratification.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (II Timothy 4:3,4)
Most specifically and in the word of truth what Osteen has turned away from is the passage of I John 2:15-17, “not to love the world”. He has made a new religion out of a perversion of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (I John 2:15-17)
Most specifically and in the word of truth what the Swaggerts have turned away from is I Corinthians chapter 14. Face the truth what that chapter from the Holy Spirit and the Apostle Paul was written for during the first century and recorded for us to read and heed is: ENCOURAGE THE SPEAKING IN UNKNOWN TONGUES AS A MATTER OF PRIVATE DEVOTIONALS AND THE PREACHING IN KNOWN TONGUES AS A MATTER OF PUBLIC WORSHIP.
Since they both must know these two passages and know what they are doing is wrong, they are specifically gratifying their own desires, or being self-indulgent as gimmicks of increased popularity. The issue here is sound doctrine on the “faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3); namely if they can be so wrong on the verse of I John and so wrong on I Corithians 14. why do worshippers indulge them on Bible exposition. Of course we recognize that in the household of God, there is wood and clay as well as silver and gold; also that Swaggart is among the top 7 evangelists in America and Osteen has enough talent to attract millions to his books and ministry and grow a large church. Swaggert obviously has the gift of evangelism and music, not Bible exposition; and Osteen obviously has the talent to win friends and influence people with the world book of records on smiling so long, yet his talents in no way are to be confused with Bible exposition of sound doctrines, notwithstanding the beginning of the service where the Bible is held up.
