The Apostle Paul and a Brief Outline of His II Timothy.

1-3: The Apostle Peter acknowledged Paul as a Scripture Writing Apostle
“…as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.” (II Peter 3:15,16)
  1. 1. By the time the Apostle Peter wrote II Peter, approximately 66 A.D., Paul was well established as the “beloved brother”.
  2. 2. The source of Paul’s doctrine and Scriptures is obvious here, it was “according to the wisdom given him”.
It came from outside himself, from God the Father, the Ascended Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. In a few paragraphs we will briefly discuss “inspiration” of all Scriptures as (1) divine in origin, (2) absolute in authority, and (3) sufficient in message.
  1. By this time in approximately 66 A.D.–”in all his epistles”–Paul had written many epistles.
  2. 4. Paul wrote of these things that Peter had been addressing in II Peter, in particular as mentioned a few verses before, the coming of the day of God when the heavens and the earth shall dissolve; and how the longsuffering of our Lord is salvatio
  3. 5. Paul writes in his epistles of some things hard to unders
It would seem that except for the Apostle John near the end of the First Century when he wrote the difficult book of Revelation, that the Apostle Paul was given the task (as a chief editor should have) of writing the most difficult and deep things of salvation. But this was the way it should be as Paul was a lawyer before his conversion, and being a lawyer in Israel in the first century meant based on the law of the Bible as the law of the Bible was the law of the nation.  All Paul needed was conversion, a word of encouragement from Ananias, several years in the desert with Christ, a brief visit back at Jerusalem with the Apostles Peter and James, and then seven years at Tarsus to read back through the Old Testament with which he was already very familiar–but in the light on the new experiences and testimonies.
1-4: Word of God (Scriptures) from the Apostle Paul.
  1. 1. Paul was a holy man of God that spoke or wrote as moved by the Holy Sp
“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”  (II Peter 1:21)
  1. 2. Paul was not making an private interpretations of Jesus or the Old Testament when he wrote Scriptures.
The Doctrine of Paul is the doctrine of Christ and of God.  It is consistent with the teachings and epistles of the other Apostles. In fact, if proof were needed of the Bible as the Word of God, it is the unity of content from the Prophets and the Apostles that convinces us that a common source was necessary, that source being God the Father through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  It was not recorded yet but I am sure that either the Ascended Christ or Peter or James had told Paul as Jesus said, and later the Apostle John recorded in the Gospel of John that there would be no doubts about “doctrine” if a person were willing to do the will of God.
“If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”  (John 7:17)
Of course, in the context, Jesus was primarily speaking of the group of teachings and of Himself as the reliable source that passed on doctrine from God the Father.
“And the Jews marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.” (John 7:15,16)
Paul could likewise talk of his doctrine while making it clear, as he often did, that it was really doctrine from God and Christ; and likewise in the title of this volume, THE MINISTRY AND DOCTRINE OF THE APOSTLE PAUL, we can talk of the doctrine of Paul while knowing unmistakably the source.
  1. 3. Peter must have known also of the time and effort Paul made at Tarsus when he carefully reread the Old Testament Scriptures, of the matters of salvation, of the grace that was presently coming to his generation, and what the Spirit of Christ had recorded in the Old Testament of the sufferings of Christ.
“Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven…”  (I Peter 1:10-12)
(1). Paul would have been on the mind of Peter as one of the Apostles who preached that gospel with the Holy Spirit help.
(2). Paul along with the Old Testament Prophets would among those who “minister the things”. (3).  The “Spirit of Christ” was with Paul in Arabia even as it was with the Old Testament Prophets in the writing of Scriptures.
1-5: The Apostle Paul, a champion of inspiration of scriptures and all other doctrines.
  1. 1. It was the Apostle Paul as a medium that gave us those great verses on “All scripture is given by inspiration of G..”
All scripture if given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”  (II Timothy 3:16,17)
You just know that Paul had to aware of the fact that he like the Prophets and other Apostles was writing Scripture: if he didn’t know before Peter told him in the epistle of II Peter.  What do we mean by “inspiration of God”?  Certainly it is not inspired as the same sense as Robert Browning or any other poet is inspired.
(1). We mean that the Bible is divine in origin
While over 40 authors over a period of thousands of years did the human penmanship, whatever we believe related to various theories of “inspiration” w e must believe that God is the origin. Over at Socorro, New Mexico is the Very Large Array of antennas pointed to pick up some communication from space. Well, in the Bible we have communications from heaven, from the Maker of all in the universe. And somehow the Word of God transcends within the Bible all verbal shortcomings and the limitations of pen and paper to communicate the truth to us.
(2). We mean that the Bible is Absolute in Authority.
When God has spoken as He has in the Bible, what could man possible have to say that would be in the same category. We dare not compare even Baptist statements of faith or the commentaries of our best to the Bible itself. Like one teacher of theology said, “Study your Bible:  it will throw a lot of light on the commentaries.”
(3). We mean that the Bible is Sufficient in Its Message.  It may not tell us all that we want to know:  how ever, it tells us all that we need to know for salvation, for the worship of God, for faith in Jesus Christ, for the living of the Christian life, and etc.
(4). We mean that the Bible is high fidelity.
High fidelity literally means “faithful in reproduction”.  We can debate extensively the exact mode of revelation; or we can simply admit that the Word of God communicates through languages and words and translations exactly as God wants it to with the help of the Holy Spirit and the faithful study of the Bible.
  1. 2. The Word or Word of Truth were favorite terms for Bible or Scriptures in the writings, and we will look at those extensively in the chapters of this volume. Two will be briefly mentioned now as exam
    (1).  II Timothy 4:2.
This verse as a preliminary to the warning of the time when there will be little tolerance for sound doctrine, tells a possible preventive measure.
“Preach the  word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”  (II Timothy 4:2)
   (2). I Corinthians 14:3.
This concludes with a good combination. Even as preaching must include the triad elements of exhortation, comfort, and edification (I Cor 14:3), so here preaching the word ends in exhortation with longsuffering and doctrine. The longsuffering tells of love and patience; and certainly on all doctrine we would dare not be among those that cast the first stone.  It is no person or persons that we are aiming at when we talk about what the Bible teaches: it is not personal; it is something that was in the Bible before you and I were born.
1-6:  Sufferings and the Ministry of Paul.
Above all Paul was told in his call to the Ministry of the great things he must suffer, and I think somewhere in those scriptures about “suffering” we will find also the great thing that Paul did as Chief Editor of the New Testament.  When you stop to consider that second to Christ Himself Paul is the most famous Christian that has ever lived, I frankly am surprised that there are not several Old Testament predictions that foretold of Paul and his work.  Perhaps there are, and during this volume study we can seek them out.
  1. The call to Paul’s Ministry in the vision of Ananias.
Ananias in the vision was told to go to this one Saul of Tarsus who was praying, and to put his hands on him so that he could receive his sight.  Ananias objected. He said, “I’ve heard of this man, of the evil he has done in Jerusalem to Christians, and how he has authority from the chief priests to put all in prison that call on the name of Jesus.”
“But the Lord said unto him, Go thy w ay:  for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:  for I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.” (Acts 9:15,16)
Here is what we can nail down so far on the Call to the Ministry of the Apostle Paul. (1). He was a chosen vessel to Christ.
(2). Paul’s call was to bear the name of Christ before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel
(3).  Later Christ (no doubt in Arabia and subsequently) would show Paul “how great things he must suffer” for Christ.
  1. 2. Suffering was always part of the ministry of the Old Testament Prophets, especially the
writing prophets, and Paul as a lawyer was very familiar with that.  Stephen in his famous last words of Acts 7, in a condensed history of the Old Testament, tells us of the sufferings of the prophets.
“Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted?  and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers…” (Acts 7:52)
  1. The Ministry of Jesus Himself is often referred to as a ministry of suffering.
The famous passage of Isaiah 53 tells of the Ministry of Jesus in terms of the “Suffering Servant”.
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:  and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”  (Isaiah 53:3)
And with many others similar words like–borne our griefs, carried our sorrows, stricken, smitten of God, afflicted, wounded, bruised, chastisement, stripes, oppressed, as a lamb to the slaughter–Isaiah 53 tells of the suffering ministry of Christ.
  1. 4. Paul testified that the ultimate in the Ministry and in being a Christian was what could result from suffering, that is the attainment of the Resurrection from the
Let us also not forget that the preparations of Paul before the call to the ministry were also preparations for his ministry.  He tells us of some of those educational, training, and experience backgrounds before His call.
“Though I might also have confidence in the flesh.  If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:  circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.” (Philippians 3:4-6)
Yet those were not the sufferings that helped Paul fulfill His call to the Ministry. “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss of Christ.”  (Philippians 3:7) There is the obvious motivation in the Ministry of Paul!
“Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord:  for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I my win Christ…”  (Philippians 3:8)
There is “sufferings” again, in the loss of all things that were in important of the flesh and in the world.  Surely in order in fulfill the Ministry of Paul, in preaching, in missionary journeys, and in the the writing and editorship of New Testament books the essential foundation w as the knowledge of Christ Jesus. Not only knowledge, but to be a leader in these avenues of expression about Jesus, Paul needed “excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus…”  Somewhere before we finish this volume, we must prove from the Scriptures that EXCELLENCY and SUFFERINGS are closely correlated.
“…and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; if by an means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”  (Philippians 3:9-11)
There it is again:  know Him, the power of His resurrection, and “THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERINGS”.
Ephesians and the Ephesian ministry form a benchmark in the writings of Paul and in the ministry of the Apostle Paul. It was after the three year ministry in Ephesus and in the area of Asia Minor near Ephesus, that he could truly say that he had worked where he was not building on other men’s ministry. You can detect that landmark in the way that Paul addressed his letters, boldly calling himself “an apostle of Jesus Christ”  with children (I Timothy 1:1 and II Corinthians 1:1).  In the writing of I Corinthians he was almost there as he was “called to be an Apostle”. A little weaker than that would be the “servant and called to be an Apostle” of Romans and Titus. Begging the issue of Apostleship would be the “an Apostle, not of men but of Jesus” of Galatians. (Remember like with any other author, you must distinguished between the time of writing and the time of publication.) When Paul came to formally write his earliest synagogue address as recorded in the book of Hebrews, it without the salutation of any name at all. Therefore if you continue this trend and sequence the 14 letters written by the Apostle Paul in terms of Paul’s own concept of his ministry–at least, as he felt accepted in the Church and churches–then it would go as follows.
  1. 1. Galatians  Apostle not of men but of Jesus
  2. 2. Hebrews no name
  3. 3. I, II Thessalonians  names only (Paul, Silas, Timothy)
  4. 4. Romans, Titus  servant and called to be an Apostle
  5. 5. I Corinthians  called to be an Apostle
  6. 6. I Timothy, II Corinthians  an Apostle with children
  7. 7. Ephesians, Colossians, and II Timothy  an Apostle
  8. 8. Philippians  servant with Timothy
  9. 9. Prisoner  Philemon
1-7:  Apostle with Children, I Timothy and II Corinthians.
It is felt that the exact sequencing should not be over labored, and that it should be considered helpful only in that it leads to the spiritual messages of the letters. No doubt Paul digressed back to servant near the end of his ministry in order to identify with the ministry of Timothy, or have the churches identify with the ministry of Timothy, and also out of deference to the friend-servant concept of the final teachings of Jesus on earth. Paul almost called himself an Apostle in the first writing of Galatians; however, it was little or no concern for the acceptance of the churches which came later.   Of course this writer is aware of different sequences and respects especially that of the conservation Bible scholar F.F. Bruce which goes like this:  (1) Galatians; (2) Thessalonians; (3) I Corinthians; (4) Philippians; (5) II Corinthians; (6) Romans; (7) Colossians, Philemon, and Ephesians; and (8) Pastoral epistles. It is obvious that Bruce has not attempted to sequence the pastoral epistles of Titus, I, and II Timothy.  However, enough of this sequencing.  Recall that the emphasis in this volume as in all three volumes of THE LEARN CHRIST COMMENTARIES that the emphasis is to be on the internal content. That is interpreted to mean that the 14 New Testament books themselves and their context, rather than information about them, will be the focus in this volume.
An Outline of I Timothy.

  5. e. Keep what has been committed to your trust, not as those who have erred from the faith, 6:20,21.
There is a very real sense in which we Christians today are also the children of the Apostle Paul, and John also as we feel akin to John also as he speaks of his “little children” in the little epistles of John.  Recall that it was the Apostle Paul who reminded us in several books that we are a body of Christ built on the “foundation of the apostles and  prophets” with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone. Not to belittle the work of the Apostle John in the writing of the last five books of the New Testament, which I like to call the New Pentateuch of the Apostle John; and in this one volume commentary on the Bible I call “The End”; nor would I belittle the work of the Old Testament Prophets in setting the stage with quote-potentials that Paul could explain and around which Paul could build the core of Christian doctrine as we have come to know it.
After all, after Jesus time of teachings of the 12 apostles was terminated by His death and resurrection, then Paul was chosen specially in a special way to complete the work of the writing of the New Testament. It was only Paul that the resurrected Christ took out into the desert to explain what the Old Testament was all about. Then with that knowledge, Paul, a very organized religious lawyer in the Hebrew tradition, re-read the Old Testament manuscripts through recording on a separate manuscript those portions that must be quoted in his writings along with the explanation of those quotes that Christ gave him in Saudi Arabia.  Here is how Paul brought the whole Bible together as one as Chief Editor under the leadership of Christ and the Holy Spirit.
  1. 1. Paul provided leadership in an exhaustive and complete quoting of the Old Testament in the 14 letters he w rote and the 3 that he sponsored through Dr. Luke and John Mark.  Jesus quoted extensively from the Old Testament, then lead Paul to do the same. Matthew also quoted from Jesus and the Old Testament as did Peter and James and later John; but when you take all the quotes from the Old Testament in the New Testament you will find that Paul is the majority stock holder. Why? Because that is the way Christ wanted it!  After all, what was according to the Spirit and Paul in Romans the chief contribution to the world of the Jewish people.  It was to be a custodian of the oracles of God. It was to a Jew of the Jews, a Hebrew of the Hebrews, that w as given the privilege under the leadership of Christ to bring it all together.
  1. 2. Paul wrote Ephesians. We can find many things in Ephesians as I have through over 50 years of Bible study. At this my pinnacle of Bible study and understanding, I find in Ephesians as it’s place at the center of the total Bible the first half as “Essentials of Faith”, and the second half on “How to Learn Christ”. Now, along with that you should know that all of the little book of Ephesians is a summary of the first ten books that were written by the Apostle.

3 Frogs Bring World to Megiddo

Frogs and Megiddo

3 Frogs Bring World to Megiddo

One might react to the title, saying, the whole world is far too smart to be led anywhere by 3 frogs, especially the Western world of the US and Great Britain, and especially not to Megiddo in Hebrew, called Armageddon in Greek; because everybody knows that is the place of the last great battle where God Himself intervenes to bring this old earth to an end, and to punish all accumulated injustices.  Megiddo, now a Israeli Kibbutz of Megiddo, is located just north of the West Bank in Israel–one of the Jihadists strongholds in Palestine along with the famous Gaza over on the coast of the Med.  This takes care of one of the three frogs, and the logic of what we see in the world today in the light of prophetic predictions on eschatology is that the other “unclean spirits that are like frogs” (Revelation 16:13) must be Al-Quaida knocking on the northern border of Israel in order to get down a short distance to Megiddo, and ISIS which can not wait to destroy Jerusalem and the “camp of the saints”  (Revelation 20:9)
5-1:  Megiddo and the 3 Frogs
Why Megiddo and why one of the least harmful of all threats to humanity, 3 frogs?  Preliminarily and before full development from the Bible of Revelation, Daniel, and II Thessalonians, let it be stated that God is still in control of this Universe, intervening, and has chosen to allow this method of development in order to bring the affairs of this old earth to an end, before the second coming of Christ to intervene and win the battle, and the subsequent creation of a new earth and new heavens where God lives and righteousness prevails.  A dream,
not really as that is what God has planned all along to wrap up world affairs, and the reason He had it recorded as prophetic predictions in the Bible of Zechariah, Daniel, Revelation, and II Thessalonians and other Scriptures thousands of years ago.  God said in the Old Testament that He would never do anything without first warning His own people; and furthermore while there in the public record of the Bible for all the kings of the earth and others to read, it will be only accepted by faith from His own people until the frogs are hopping at the gate of Jerusalem and have taken one-half of the people captive (Zechariah 14:2).
Megiddo, strategically located at the head of a pass through the  Carmel Ridge  overlooking the  30 mile Jezreel Valley around the Tel of Megiddo,  is famous as the site of at least 3 famous and large battles of history:  (1) in 1918 A.D. the last battle of World War I, by the way advertised as the war to end all wars, was where the British defeated the Ottoman Empire; (2) In 609 B.C. Solomon built a fort on the site and in 609 BC King Josiah of Judah was killed there when opposing the march of the Egyptian King Necho II towards Assyria  {Read more at : megiddo#ixzz3CSboxGfd}; and (3) In around 1476 bc Egyptian Pharaoh Thotmes (Thutmosis) III led perhaps 10, 000 men in a rapid march against rebel Palestinian chieftains. They had sent outposts to hold the Megiddo pass, a covering force which was easily scattered leaving the king of Kadesh to face the pharaoh on the Megiddo plain. Thotmes’ army advanced in a concave
formation, its southern wing enveloping the rebels while the northern wing was driven between them and the town of Megiddo itself. They used surprise, shock action (chariots) and firepower (archers), cut communications, and enveloped the enemy.5-2:  All the frogs are not in the Middle East.
As for the symbol of frogs to represent unclean spirits, remember that we are talking about the Middle East tree frog, not those cute little frogs that hop around in your yard.  According to Wikipedia {http://en.wikipedia.
org/wiki/Frog}, the Middle East tree frog “is found in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen.  And furthermore all frogs are noted for hoping distances like ISIS is hopping across borders and countries; some frogs are
extremely toxic and in South America natives glean a poison from them; and it is significant that supporters of terrorists like the Boiling Frogs Posts {or BFP} and in a recent online post:
“We will proceed by documenting the scale and scope of political repression in each US backed police state. We will then describe the scale and scope of US military aid buttressing the “remaking of the Middle East” into a chain of political prisons run by and for the US Empire. The countries and regimes include Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Yemen, Jordan and Turkey. . . all of which promote and defend US imperial interests against the pro-
democracy majority, represented by their independent social-political movements. – See more at: http://www.boilingfrogspost.

While we know that some frog leaders in the US, going back to the follies of the frog Bushes in creating Iraqi frogs, have out of ignorance of the Middle East, created millions of little frogs that would destroy the US and Israel, it is going a little far as does the BFP to suggest that the US has created a chain of political prisons in “Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain,
Iraq, Yemen, Jordan and Turkey”.  And we hardly read in Sibel Edmonds articles about the larger Muslim world from which funds for ISIS and other terrorists are coming!

5-3:  Lest we follow the example of today’s itching ears teachers of Christian fables on eschatology, and there are many mostly of the secret rapture type, we must show support for these subjects and images in Bible, primarily Revelation 16:12-16.
1.  First the 3 unclean spirits like frogs that come out of the mouth of the Dragon, Satan; out of the mouth of the beast {generally a city-state system and process as was Rome}; out of the mouth of the Prophet {a religious system like some have thought was the Pope’s religion of the seared
conscience, but for right now in our period of time, it is in all probability the Prophet Mohammed and at least Jihadists Muslims}.
“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.” (Revelation 16:13)
The dragon is well identified in the Bible as a representation of Satan, really a vicious monster like ISIS that will kill, destroy, and malign.
“He laid hold on the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.”  (Revelation 20:2)
2.  Revelations 16:14 proceeds to give us some identifying descriptions of these unclean spirits like frogs.
“For they are spirits of demons {did you get that BFP, spirits of demons, of Satan and the fallen angels that were cast out onto the earth with him}, performing signs, which go out to earth and of the whole world…”  (Revelation 16:14a)

NOTE:   Always in the Bible as false miracles that strive to simulate the miracles and wonders of God like when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, some places as in the II Thessalonians description of the “Lawless One”, the man of sin and of perdition–the very adopted son and personification of Satan, these signs are called “lying wonders” (II Thess. 2:9)},  These signs and wonders like suicide bombers with the spirits of demons go all over the world, some as you recall having come in 9/11/2001 to the U.S. in New York.
3.  You have always wondered what would bring great and Christian nations, and moderate Muslim countries to Megiddo for the final great battle; well, yes, it is the 3 frogs of unclean spirits like ISIS, Al-Quaida, Hamas, Gaza, and the West Bank and others.  Here is the answer in the second part of Revelation 16:14, Revelation 16:14b, and the answer is that these 3 unclean spirits like frogs brought the nations of the whole world to battle at Megiddo.
“…which go out to the kings of the earth and the whole world, to gather them to that battle of the great day of God Almighty.”  (Revelation 16:

5-4:  The gathering by Terrorists {the unclean frogs} to Megiddo of the Middle East is phrased twice, so we won’t miss it, in Revelation 16:14 and 16:15, and with in between the two a note of encouragement and warning about the simultaneous with the great battle coming of the Lord
Jesus Christ.
1.  The terrorists “gather” the nations to Megiddo in Revelation 16:14.
2.  The terrorists “gathered” all the nations together at a certain place, no doubt where there enlarged army is camped out to meet the boots on the ground which they think they can defeat; and no doubt the army of terrorists by then is so large that it looks doomed for Jerusalem, Judah, and the army of the
nations until God Himself and the Lord Jesus Christ intervene.
3.  Jesus, Who is giving all these revelations to the Apostle John, does not want us to forget and be confused about the Bible fact that His Second Coming will be at the same time as His rescue of half Jerusalem and some nations.

5-5:  God Himself  with one foot north on the Mount of Olives and one foot on the south as it is splits (Zechariah 14:3,4) “will fight against these nations”  (Zechariah 14:2), and at this second coming, Christ the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” “He Himself treads the winepress of the
fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”  (Revelation 19:15,16)
1.  God the Fathers, “LORD” God, intervention at Megiddo.
“Then the LORD {this is always God the Father} will go forth and fight against these nations, and He fights in the day of battle.”  (Zechariah 14:3)
2.  At His Second Coming, the simultaneous intervention of the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Now out His mouth {the Word of God, the King of kings, the Lord of Lords} goes a sharp sword, that with it He shall strike the nations.  And He Himself will rule them with a rod or iron.  He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”  (Revelation 19:15)

5-6:  Above is the good and winning side, but briefly from II
Thessalonians 2:1-12, let us look at the bad and losing side of Satan, “The Lawless One”, most nations of this earth, and the condemnation of all who do not believe the truth and had pleasure in unrighteousness”  (1:12}.
1.  Satan.
2.  “the mystery of lawlessness”
3.  Withdrawal of the Holy Spirit from earth, who previously since His coming in power and widespread after the Ascension bound the work of Satan and damped the mystery of lawlessness through the people of God until “the power
of the holy people was completely destroyed”  (Daniel 12:7)
4.  The Lawless One, the mystery of lawlessness, and the Falling Away bring on this earth the necessity of the END of justice, that God might be “just and the justifier of all that believe”  (Romans 3:26)  One of those 3 frogs of unclean
spirits comes out of Satan, and that has to be the Lawless One of II Thessalonians, the little horn of Daniel, and the unclean frog out of the mouth of Satan himself.  {All of you saw on TV and internet, the work of a demon spirit without regard for life and the laws of God; and if he is not himself, that is Al
Bagdady, the lawless one, he is a prototype of the worse that humanity can do to other human beings.

5-7:  God is just and the Justifier of all that believe.  You perhaps wondered at the simultaneous study of the book of Romans with Israel and Christian fables, and now you know, and it is introduced from Revelation 16:5-7.
1.  Revelation 16:5-7.

“And I heard the angel of the waters saying:  ‘You are righteous, O Lord, the One who is and who was and who is to be, because you have judged these things.  For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink.  For it is their just due.’  And I heard
another from the altar saying, ‘Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”  (Revelation 16:5-7)

2.  “The just and justifier” of Romans 3:21-26.

“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law has been revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. {you can feel the rise in intensity from Paul as if the words of his sermons all over the first century Roman Empire}  For there is no
difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God., being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness {How about that, a demonstration from God, and how great it was!}, because in His forbearance God had
passed over the sins previously committed {all those in past history before Jesus and His death on the cross who exhibited faith}, to demonstrate at this time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:21-26}

3.  “The just shall live by faith”  (Romans 1:16,17)

“For I am not ashamed {the Apostle Paul, the Hebrew of the Hebrews, and a former lawyer of Judaism} of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jews first and also for the Greeks.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith’”  (Romans

4.  Mellow your optimism, those of the Christian fables, on the future of Israel, only one half of them in Jerusalem will be saved; and only those who turn around what the Hebrew of Hebrews, the Jew Apostle Paul said about “the righteousness of God through faith”  (Romans 9:1-5 and Romans 10:1-4)
a.  Paul, the Christian Jew, did not write without tears, like Zechariah, Jeremiah, and Daniel, of the inevitable partial salvation of the Jews. (Romans 9:

“I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continued grief in my heart.  For I could wish that I myself were accursed  from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, who are Israelites,
to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, , who is over all, the eternally blessed God.  Amen.”  (Romans 9:1-5)

   b.  However here is the reality between God the Father and the Jews, a reality that Paul with his soul captive to the Word of God as was Martin Luther, could do and say none other about his countrymen according to the flesh.

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.  For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.  {They were first given the Bible and to them were committed the oracles of God including the oracle of Jesus, the Apostles, and the New Testament; and that was knowledge enough,
but knowledge rejected up until near the END.  Of course, we would dare not recognize that all over the world are presently Jews that are followers and witnesses to Jesus, for more than you realize unless you are involved in social media where they make their witness.}  For they  being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their
own righteousness {this is true of so many other people in the world, including Christians, but the Jews took and have the lead}, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”  (Romans 10:1-4)

5-8: What can we do if Israel will not believe their own Hebrew Prophet Zechariah, and what he plainly tells as a Prophet of God in Zechariah 13 and 14.

NOTE:  Out of time and space in this Bible session, but you can find exegesis of Zechariah 13 and 14 among other Bible sessions in “Israel Complete on the New Earth”.  Also if you go to the Bible study series of Israel as related to distortions of Christian fables today, at least an effort to straighten out the fables with sound doctrine, you should go to www. .   You will also find in that series “Jesus and Israel” for proper Bible perspective on both.

5-9.  The little horn of Daniel.
The “little horn” of Daniel is the Lawless One or the man of sin and perdition, one of the 3 frogs and unclean spirits if you would; and you can find many references to exegesis of Daniel in the Bible series on “Israel and Last Things”; and you can download free “Cup of Water”, a condensed version of Mark with comments; and which as with Mark leads into the sweeps of eschatology of Daniel.  You can download Cup of Water, Mark and Daniel, in PDF free of charge with the link of .
5-10: Those unclean spirit frogs {how gross each frog looks in the image of the frog you shall at the beginning of this Bible session, in the history of humanity, and on TV} and their allies; but them and the whole world should know their inevitable fate under the hand of God as coming from
God through the Prophet Zechariah.

“And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem.  Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet.  Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, and their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.”  {Zechariah 14:12)

“Peace, Peace” and Megiddo

“For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” (Jeremiah 6:13,14)

“The French military and political leader Napoleon Bonaparte once stood at the valley of Megiddo, which is a large tract of land and inland valley south of the Lower Galilee region in Israel, and remarked, “All the armies of the world could maneuver their forces on this vast plain.” Napoleon at that time either knowingly or unknowingly made a prophetic statement, because the Bible specifically states that one day all the world’s armies will indeed converge on that location and be met in battle by God Himself.”  {}

final battle

NOTE:  Surely you have noticed that all the nations in the world are now at play in the Middle East Region as preparation for the final great battle.  Right now, it is centered around Syria, but the enemies of the US and Israel along with the 3 frogs of Megiddo are just itching for a large attack on Israel.
America has many more reasons for optimism under President Trump, world peace has much less reason for optimism because of the inevitability of Megiddo. Megiddo is bad in that Israel will run red with blood for 200 miles, and you think of the size of the armies for all that blood, it is good in that there is also the Bible assurance that the good guys and nations are going to win. {Below the scene of the Jezreel valley from the Megiddo Tel where the final massive armies of nations will gather for the final shedding of blood.}

jezrel plain from Megiddo

Why Meggido?  It has always been the right location for battles being at a major junction of the highway of Nations and Kings.  Since Syria at the northern border 17 miles from Meggido, once the northern kingdom of Israel before rebellion and splitting of the united kingdom under King David.  Wikipedia lists some of the battles there of history:  {}

Battle of Megiddo refers to one of the major battles fought near the ancient site of Megiddo in the Jezreel Valley of north of Israel:

King of Egypt and Josiah at Megiddo

Of course in the final analysis, God’s intervention is required on the side of victory, and simultaneously with the Second Coming of Christ and with the termination of this old earth system. The good news is that the old will be replaced with a new heaven and a new earth, and God Himself will dwell among men in righteousness.
Most people chose to think contrary to Bible teachings on eschatology that Megiddo will never happen, or that they will be raptured away from it, and that out of their imaginations of itching ears teachings and unsound doctrine, so many things have to happen yet to be seen that there is no reason to be immently concerned. Those reasons will be eliminated shortly; right now, it it necessary for groundwork to consider that these excuses for world optimism is placing America in the comparable place as Israel when the “Peace, Peace, when there is no peace” Prophets and Pastors ruled the roost during the days of Jeremiah.
I. Of course, world peace when there is and will be no world peace is best understood in the total context of the book of Jeremiah; however for practical reasons the focus will center on Jeremiah 6:10-16–

Jeremiah 6 verses 10 thru 16_001

1. “To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.” (Jeremiah 6:10)

There can be no real peace when any society operates counter to the Word of God, and do not delight themselves in the Bible.

2. “Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.” (Jeremiah 6:11)

This judgment on Israel came to pass shortly as the armies of Babylon destroyed Jerusalem with those not slain taken captive to Babylon. Today for America and the world, judgment is coming shortly on the destruction of this old earth by fire. As you see Megiddo and the Second Coming, you can expect that END of this world. Now, that is Bible realism more than the false optimism of the Prophets and Pastors.

west bank immediately south megiddo

3. “And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 6:12)

God has been patient with the sins of humanity, much more patient than we sould be; but inevitably there will come a day of judgment where He stretches out His almighty hand at Megiddo. As the Apostle Peter wrote:

4. “For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.” (Jeremiah 6:13)

Pretty bad shape in the eyes of good, both leaders and people were given over to covetousness, and even the prophet and the priest dealt falsely. Can that happen in America today with the present level of greed, deceit, and cover up, in the National Dens of thieves of even churches where CEOs run them and make millions. I don’t even think the Temples of God were in that much of a bad shape in Jeremiah.

5. “They {speaking of the prophets and priests in the verse before} have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” (Jeremiah 6:14)

Now we get the problem of false peace and optimism, it heals the hurt of the people of God only slightly; and furthermore, according to the Word of the LORD for that time in history and the time now, IT JUST IS NOT TRUE!

6. “Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
(Jeremiah 6:15)

Are the evangelists on TV even ashamed as they practice and preach the false Gospel of Prosperity and the CEO’s of church dens in Baton Rogue and Houston even blush when they hear other Christians contend for the faith in real Bible; not so, they just spend their time in justification of what they are doing as anointed using no Bible basis, only their own “pride of life” as a rationalizations and their popularity. We already know the world and love of the world is popular and always will be until Megiddo.

7. “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” (Jeremiah 6:16)

As itching ears teachers teach you Christian fables you will notice they become quite on Bible and loud on their own opinions. Like Joel, in spite of editing his fathers sermons for TV for 17 years, substitutes new ways for the old paths, bad ways for the good ways; neither walking in the Bible himself or finding any rest for his own soul. False prophets, teachers, and pastors and priests, effectively come back to God and His Word, saying, ‘WE WILL NOT WALK THEREIN!”

Conclusion: Next blog message will entail dealing with the exuses and substitutes for Megiddo.  Megiddo is far away from the US and no doubt we will see the final battle of TV right up to the intervention of God where the whole earth including the US will be destroyed by fire according to the Apostle Peter:

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”  (II Peter 3:10)

NOTE:  “day of the Lord” in the Bible is the final event of this old world as God, once patient and longsuffering for thousands of years, makes everything right:  He intervenes at Megiddo to give Christians the victory, He gathers believers to meet Him in the air as Christ Comes again, and terminates the old heavens and earth by fire before ushering in the new heaven and new earth.

world destroyed by fire

Overcomers by Christ definition are those in local churches not Victims of the Christian fables of the Falling Away

I. Take for example the first of 7, the church at Ephesus, as in the others (1) Christ Himself did a thorough analysis of the membership–“These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks…(Rev 2:1)”; (2) list for all to read the good things about that church–“I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars…” (Rev 2:2); (3) then recognizes that it has not been easy in the name of Christ and extends a pat on the back–“And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.” (Rev 2:3); (4) then in every case list for all 7 churches* and for all to read Christ lists the bad things about the church and His judgment on their analysis–“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. (Rev 2:4,5); (5) sometimes he adds an additional good thing to encourage them–“But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.” (Rev 2:6); and (6) Finally Christ has a repetitive message of encouragement for the individual members that “overcome” generally the same in each church–that they can be apart from the majority—

” He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.”

*Even as today every church in America and Asia Minor is different and the lists are different

II. Right now since the emphasis of this blog/message is on the overcomers in any single of the 7 churches, the church name will be listed and the promise for overcomers, step 6 in each case.

1. Church at Ephesus: to the member that is listening and heeding Christ, the church members that are overcomers Christ will give to eat of the tree of life in heaven and on the new earth.
2. Church at Smyrna:
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.”
3. Church at Pergamos:
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.” (Revelation 2:17)

NOTE: all the Christian fables in churches of the falling away is discouraging against joining and staying, but always remember according to the Ascended Christ and his messages to all the churches, there is also the best possibility there to be an “OVERCOMER”. Absolutely an overcomer must be a member in the church of the firstborn written in heaven with being a citizen of the kingdom of Christ. which God takes care of by His grace with initial faith IN CHRIST.

4. Church at Thyatira. (You can always be among the rest in Thyatira.)
“But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”

NOTE: The blessings of being an overcomer, different for the majority rest, just keep piling up. Blessings in heaven and blessings of the new earth.

5. Church at Sardis. (THE FEW, it is always good to be among the few of Christ and IN CHRIST.)
“Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” (Revelation 3:4-6)

NOTE: Even as God through Christ does not hold the individual IN CHRIST, responsible for the world wide falling away, neither does He hold the individual church member responsible for the witness or lack of witness of a single church that has failed to endure sound doctrine like Lakewood Church. Surely that church also must have some overcomers who hearts bleed every Sunday!

6. The Church in Philadelphia.
“Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.” (revelation 3:12)

7. The Church of the Laodiceans
” Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” (Revelation 3:20-23)

Conclusion: Later in another blog to follow, it must be shown how riddled these 7 churches were wit the 7 Christian fables of the falling away; however the purpose of this blog to encourage church members and attenders to be among the few overcomers. You are neither a victim of the world wide falling away unless you chose to be so, or are you a victim of the falling away which inebitably hits every Christian church and denomination, unless you chose not to be among the few overcomers.

Unknown Tongues lead to Unknown loyalty and an Unknown god, OR How to Find Your way back to the Tomb of the Unknown God. (Acts 17:23)

“For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.” (Acts 17:23)

God’s message is clear in I Corinthians 14: do not practice unknown tongues in public worship, save them for private devotionals. What happens when preachers and pastors do not obey? Chapter 14 tells us that also (1) they develop an unknown ignorance to (2) an unknown spirit as they give up control of their own spirit of the prophets and thereby pledge publicly an (3) unknown allegiance and (4) unkown loyalty; and (5) receive a new unknown immersion in their life with (6) an unknown worship and Christian influence; and (7) who begin to talk like an unknown barbarian, and play (8) unknown sounds from trumpets. All these unknowns lead to an unknown amount of “confusion” in the church body, and confusion in Christianity with “the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).
As such pastors get further and further immersed in this unknown to the Bible baptism or immersion by persisting in unknown tongues denied by God, their lives and minsiteries begin to change subtle to become unknow to the “faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3) and become unkown to the Word of God. That is called by Paul in II Timothy 4:3,4 “they will not endure sound doctrine” and of course fifth in this process of falling away is Christian fables. Does it not make sense that unknown tongues can lead to unknown ignorance, unkown doctrines, and new misleading unknown Christian fables.
Noone anywhere can successfully tamper with something as important as the public worship of God with destruction of their own faith and religion and a bad influence on others. We server a known God that prefers known tongues with known and identified faith and rightness.
Even as “we battle not against flesh and blood but against principaties and powers and spiritual wickedness (Satan) in high places”, as we continuously allow and lead in unknown tongues and an unknown spirit loyalty, over a period of years Satan has control over the unknown spirit that has given up the self-control of the spirit of the prophets {those who preach}.
You might consider this process of fables the equivalent of Jesus’ temptation by Satan in the wilderness, only with opposite unknown results. Every faithul minister, just like Jesus, is hit as his ministry becomes fruitful with Satan’s 3 attempts to divert and deceive: (1) bow down and worship me Satan says, and I will give you all kingdoms of the world you see {you can see it and claim it}; (2) change these stones into bread, encouraging a loyalty in life of things over words that proceed out of the mouth of God, bread over the words and Word of God {just declare it and it will happen}; and (3) serve me rather than serve God, Satan says {think it and you have it}; and we come naturally to the BIG LIE of idolatry.
This in short if what happened, we think, to John Osteen, Joel Osteen, and the Swaggerts {only the best examples of the worst as identified with the standard for bad and destructive pastors and prophets in Jeremiah 23}; but only God knows and can judge. It only that we are doing our best to explain the obvious departures in Christian fables from the faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3).
You can tell when this begins to happen in the ministry of popular preachers of prosperity with large and growing churches in numbers {“you can fill a church with empty people”}, as their church and leadershp takes on a haughty nature and attitude that either (1) the Word of God came to us only, or (2) the Word of God originated out of our church and ministry. Which also explains how they can go all over America and the World holding out their message and methods as THE example of leadership for the world.

“THE LIE” of Idolatry (Romans 1:25)

NOTE:  Even as the “backsliding”, a word unique to Jeremiah, is the equivalent for Israel of the great apostasy called the Falling Away (II Thessalonians) for Christians, so the very source of the Christian fables of II Timothy 4:3,4 is the same as the backsliding of Israel, THE LIE of idolatry.  The lie and idolatry are the same, THE LIE of which Romans 1:25 speaks is to doubt and deny God and God’s Word, and idolatry plain and simple is to allow any loyalty in life to be paramount to God and precisely what He says in His Word the Bible.

“THE LIE” (Romans 1:25)
What God’s people of Jerusalem and Judah were thinking–the men, women, children, princes of government, official prophets and priests–finally becomes evident to us after months of tedious study on the book of Jeremiah and related books of prophecy: their minds were filled with idolatrous thoughts that motivated everything they did, God and Jeremiah in the Temple Message called it their “ways and doings”, in the years before the destruction and desolation of Judah and Jerusalem. Only publicly did the women and their supporters admit this idolatry as a remnant fled from Mizpah, seat of the flimsy government under Governor Gedaliah, to Egypt; only after the captains with the remnant and other remnant leaders had asked Jeremiah to ask of God a blessing on their escape to Egypt; only after the answer from God came back 10 days later that they must remain in Mispah, and to go to Egypt with be the complete destruction of every remaining resident of Judah.
5-1: The LIE of other gods was alive and well in Jerusalem and Egypt before total destruction and desolation.
1. We see this in the public confession, or profession of idolatry, of the Jewish women down in Egypt.
Granted we read from God and Jeremiah in the Temple Message of Jeremiah 7, the observation by both of the idol worship of the Queen of Heaven in the streets of Jerusalem and other cities of Judah, and how it was family worship: “Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.” (Jeremiah 7:17,18) {By the way we have also learned in our Bible Studies of Jeremiah and Prophesy that the made and passed out cakes upon which were images of the Queen of Heaven, worshiped these images, and influenced others to do the same.} All this was known way back at the beginning of our Jeremiah studies as we looked at chapter 7, the Temple Message, of Jeremiah; but only as we have come to chapter 44 do these same women, their husbands, and other supporters of the Jews down in Egypt publicly confess this commitment to idolatry.
“Then {after in 44:1-14 Jeremiah delivers the answer of God to escape in Egypt} all the men who knew that their wives had burned incense to other gods, with all the women who stood by, a great multitude, and all the people who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros {southern Egypt}, answered Jeremiah, saying: ‘As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we will not listen to you! But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth {the vows they made to the Queen of Heaven}, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done {a confession of continued idolatry in Judah and Jerusalem}, we and our fathers {a public confession that it was part of their heritage of many years}, our kings and princes {a public confession that the public and government leaders practiced idolatry and encouraged the people to do the same}, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem {this idol worship had been done openly although there had not previously been the public commitment and confession to such idolatry}. For then we had plenty of food, were well off, and saw no trouble.
NOTE: As we come to look at THE LIE of idolatry from Romans 1, we will discuss also the rationalizations, delusions, and lies that go with it. There is little doubt that they are speaking of a period in their history, no doubt under the wicked King Manasseh for 50 years when there was also prosperity and peace; but to subscribe that to the blessings of a dumb idol, a false god or goddess, that was only imagined and not real in the first place is a testament of what happens, according to Romans 1:25 when truth about, and truths about the Great God of the Universe is traded for A LIE THAT OTHER gods EXIST.
2. 70 influential men of Judah were seen by Ezekiel secretly worshipping THE LIE of idols in a dark basement of the Jerusalem Temple (Ezekiel 8:1-18), one of them, Jaazaniah, was the son of a leader, Shaphan, in the previous reformation and temple cleansing under King Josiah.
“And He said to me {God took Ezekiel to the dark basement of the Jerusalem Temple to see what perhaps Jeremiah never saw}, ‘Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they are doing there. So I went in and saw, and there–every sort of creeping thing, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed all around on the walls. And there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in their midst stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan. Each man had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud of incense went up. Then He said to me, ‘Son of man, have you see what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the room of his idols? FOR THEY SAY, ‘THE LORD DOES NOT SEE US, THE LORD HAS FORSAKEN THE LAND.” (Ezekiel 8:10-12)
3. That “forsaken” rings a bell: this study of the LIE of idols versus the real truth of the Living God of the living water can be done at several levels, and no doubt will, at the top level, as in Romans 1, of the Truth and Truths of the Living God versus the LIE of idols and idolatry; or it can be done down in the dirt of the history in Jeremiah where while God said “the people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewn out cisterns, broken cisterns, for themselves that will hold no water” versus what the people were really thinking, or what they claimed to think in public Temple worship and versus what they thought in the darkness of the temple in the dark: (1) that God had deserted His own people and the land, did not see what they were doing or what was going on politically, economically, and religiously {the kind of idol worship lie that many Americans practice today}, and that God just plain had forsaken His own people and the land of Judah and Jerusalem.
5-2: What Judah had in common with the whole world: THE LIE of Romans 1:25.
The Philosophical and High Level of “the truth of God versus THE LIE” of Romans chapter 1 places the guilt of “idolatry” on the whole world of civilizations, peoples, and nations where it should be instead of just on the people of God of Judah and Jerusalem before the destruction in 587 B.C.
1. While some liberals may object to applying the fuller New Testament truth of the book of Romans to an explanation of what the people of God were thinking in 587 B.C, and before in their nations history, and after down in Egypt, that is what the “progressive revelation of the Bible” is all about. In most cases, we learn the fuller truth and truths in the New Testament as compared to the Old Testament. Except in this case, there is much learning for God’s people today on God’s people of Jeremiah, what they were thinking and what they did, that in turn sheds light on exactly what demolishes the thinking of men, women, and children when they go through the process with the society around them of turning it original truth and knowledge of God for the lies of idols. {Idols are a LIE; because they are not real; there is in reality no other God period than the Father of the LORD Jesus Christ, the Creator of the Universe, and the LORD God of Israel of the Bible. In the closing chapters of the book, idols will be presented as dynamic symbols that represent something important in the life of the idolater but are not real gods that can think, act, and bless.}
NOTE: You will find that they same high level of “tolerance” that led the children of Israel into idolatry is that level we see in America today as Americans tolerate loose convictions and beliefs on God and gods. One woman leader of those killed in 911 said recently of the death of Osama Bin Laden, “now it is a matter of accountability between him and his god.” You see this is a tacit and subtle, very tolerant admission that there is another God beside the Creator of the Universe. How quickly we as Americans, even church members and the new generation of God’s people, allow the extremes of toleration lead us into the most hateful sin there is to God, IDOLATRY!
2. After these past studies in the book of Jeremiah where the major sin of the people of God was idols and idolatry, we have more appreciation now for a study of Romans 1; and we tend to apply it, as it should be to any case of idolatry, to God’s people of Judah and Jerusalem, as we do to heathen nations. Yes, I know liberals and others ignorant on the Word of God in Romans, on Bible history, and world history tend to think falsely that: (1) all civilizations started off with idol worship then evolved to a higher concept of god as did the nation of Israel; (2) that social evolution, somewhat like theistic and physical evolution, in a civilization like in America is measured as society gets better and better. Well, like with so many other truths in Romans and the Word of God where they “professing to be wise, they become fools”, the opposite of the history of civilization and the world is true: According to the Word of God in Romans, all peoples started off with a knowledge of God from conscience, from the works of Creation, and etc; and although at one time they knew God as God, they did not glorify God and give Him the honor, God gave them up to a reprobate mind and many other evils. So the history of civilization from the God that made us is that man has continuously de-evolved with a few minor perturbations of getting better.
3. What happened to past civilizations, even to the children of Israel as a nation, is that first “they knew God” (Romans 1:21) but “they did not glorify Him as God”, and “they were not thankful to God”; so, what happened to these peoples and civilizations like happened to Judah and Jerusalem: (1) “they became futile in their thoughts”; (2) “their foolish hearts were darkened”; and (3) claiming to be professors and possessors of unique wisdom, they degenerated into “fools”.
4. The PROCESS of the LIE of idolatry: (1) while God is holy and incorruptible, man with his great imagination and professed wisdom creates images of God of 4 types; (2) the images or idols are of (a) “corruptible man” {it is always easier to bring our god down to our level of humanity and manhood than to come up to His level as seen in the Lord Jesus Christ}, (b) birds, (c) four-footed animals, and (d) creeping things.
NOTE: You noted as the 70 influential elders of Judah sat in their little cubicles in the darkness of the basement, each had his own favorite idol to represent the 70 idols worshiped in Israel and Judah! These were “every sort of creeping thing, abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel” (Ezekiel 9:10)
5. The point of God’s Word to Ezekiel in chapter 8, about all the worship of idols–the 70 elders of all the idols of Israel, the idol of Asherah at the entrance to the gate, the women of Judah weeping at the door of the north gate for Tammuz, and there in the inner court the 25 priests worshiping the sun–is not with any sexual connotations, although, of course, we know that the Queen of Heaven and Asherah were fertility goddess; no, there is nothing of sex and sexual deviations in Ezekiel 8; but God points out over and over how “do you see these abominations”, and greater abominations than this. We must come to the conclusion that the greater by far abomination of God, even than the mistreatment of the people in the land, is IDOLATRY.
NOTE: We may never come to appreciate the harrow of God, of Jeremiah, of Ezekiel and the elders of Judah in the foreign land of this just plain, and awesome to God, sin of idolatry! It is difficult for us. For most of us know that there is only ONE God; we know that this idols and creeping things can not bless and mean nothing when they are foolishly worshiped.
5-3: Idol Worship Is A supreme Abomination to God!
There are reasons that the first two of the Ten Commandments have to do with Respect and worship of God without false mental images or idols, and the third and fourth also relate to respect for God, for His name and for one day of the week set aside for thinking about Him. True, even as in the 10 commandments, the last six deal with mistreatment of the people in the land, and so the abominations of God’s people of Judah included this same mistreatment of the people in the land.
“Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know, and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, sand say, ‘We are delivered to do all these abominations.” (Jeremiah 7:9,10)
And even as today when people have adopted false gods that are not really gods at all, you can detect easily the falsehood in terms of the immorality, like murder and adultery, that goes with it! Bottom line since the only other supernatural beings are Satan and his fellow devils, any worship or service to a god turns out to be Satanic worship, even if in the milder forms. Of course, the bottom line of God’s message of Jeremiah is that there are no mild forms of devil and idol worship, to the God of this Universe Who knows He is the only God, and tells us so in the Book He wrote, and told the nation of Israel and Judah, rising early and staying up late, sending many prophets for hundreds of years to keep the people straight on idolatry. And at the highest level of God’s summary of what was wrong with His people of Jeremiah was that they had committed 2 broad and all encompassing EVILS; (1) they had forsaken the only Living God, and (2) they had made broken cisterns, among those ways of salvation many idols, that could hold no living water.
5-4: Idol Worship in Jerusalem’s Temple Basement.
We have generally learned from the Bible to respect God’s people of Judah and Israel, but we lose a lot of that respect as we read about the foolishness of the idol worship in the dark basement of the Temple, and as we read of men, women, and children engaged all over Judah and Jerusalem in the worship and service of the Queen of Heaven. And we must see from Romans 1 if no where else what such a substitution for truth does to the human mind: the women in Egypt had lost it mentally in thinking that they were better off when they worshipped the Queen instead of Yahweh, much less the fact that even as today except among the false popular preachers of prosperity, you do not make “well-off” and other material things you sole justification for worship and service; and the 70 elders, to think that the omnipotent and omniscient God of the Universe could not see what they were doing was foolhardy and an indication of mental lack of health.

NOTE: As preliminary indications are now from this thorough and spirit led look at “Bible Studies in Jeremiah and Prophesy”, that it is extreme toleration for other gods which caused the destruction and desolation of Israel and Judah; and how scary since we know that extreme toleration is now the standard for the American Democratic Faith.
5-5: Bible Studies in Jeremiah and Prophesy plus Advanced Studies in Jeremiah and Prophesy.
By the way, are you caught up on Bible Studies in Jeremiah and Prophesy as it is now plunging into outstanding conclusions where that background is both helpful and needed. This chapter and the ones to follow are deep into the intensity of Jeremiah and Prophesy that has been part of the free online Bible Studies on {the first official website of SunGrist} for the past almost 3 years. Along the line of the study of this volume, you may want to make reference to these web pages. It would work quite well to do it simultaneously.

Final NOTE:  “The twin lies of human divinity and immortality have been Satan’s foundation for his counterfeit religion throughout the ages. He has been using these lies to hide from us the importance of seeking salvation in Christ.

If we are immortal, we do not need Christ to help us regain the immortality we have not lost. If we are divine, we become His equal and are capable of saving ourselves. With this masterpiece of Satan, the plan of salvation becomes futile.”

Pastors and Prophets of Lightness, vanity, dreams, ignore burdens, and give visions of their own hearts of Jeremiah 23.

INTRO: The Dangerous, Bad Pastors and Prophets of Jeremiah 23.
“Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:1,2)

(1). How do you tell the bad pastors and prophets in America today. It was easy in the time of Jeremiah, for all the prophets, priests, and pastors were judged as unworthy and worthless by God Himself. It can hardly be said that all the pastors and prophets in America today are as bad and misguided as in the days of Jeremiah, it is only to say that those bad things can happen in American and are given to us for examples, so that we need to test the spirits by seeking out any pastors and prophets today that match up in characteristics with those of Jeremiah. Take for example the most popular, prosperous, and sought after Pastor of our time, Joel Osteen, how do you tell if he falls into the category of the dangerous and bad pastors of Israel before the destruction of Jerusalem. He is a good example because his church is one of the biggest and fastest growing churches in the nation, and other pastors seek his help for church growth. In short, is Joel in the bad category of pastors in Jeremiah?

(2). God in His word as He does always has given us the sign of a dangerous Pastor, in that they do not visit the people. Early in the ministry of Joel at Lakewood, he made the statement to his people and in public not to expect visitation because with the demands of speaking to large crowds, there was not time.

“Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them…” (Jeremiah 3:1,2)

NOTE: The no visitation is obvious in the own words of Joel, but right now without all of Jeremiah 23 it is difficult to see how he scattered the flock since Lakewood is growing by leaps and bounds, and each Sunday instead of being driven away by the messages, they are coming back for more. Later we will show how Osteen, like the pastors and prophets in Jeremiah: (1) scatters the flock away from God and Christ; and (2) drives them away from God and Christ.
For now, don’t get it wrong, the pastors and prophets of Jeremiah were popular with the people, they listened to them and their comforting words, and indeed Jeremiah was the only Prophet they tried to kill.

1. Pastors and Prophets of “Lightness” in Jeremiah 23.
“Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:32)

(1). Ellicott’s commentary on “lightness”–

By their lightness.—The Hebrew word is the same in meaning as the “unstable as water” of Genesis 49:4, the “light persons” of Judges 9:4; Zephaniah 3:4, and points primarily to the gushing or spurting forth of water. Here it points to what we may call the “babbling” of the false prophets. We are almost reminded of the words in which an English poet describes a hollow and pretentious eloquence as poured out—
In one weak, washy, everlasting flood.”

(2) The Pulpit Commentary on ‘lightness”–

By their lightness. The word is an uncommon one, and implies arrogance or boastfulness (comp. Zephaniah 3:4); the root means “to bubble over.” Therefore they shall not profit; rather, and they cannot profit.

(3). Barnes Notes–

Lightness – Vain, empty, talk’

(4) Matthew Poole’s Commentary–

By lightness here some understand volubility and smoothness of tongue and speech; others, lasciviousness; others, levity and inconstancy: the last seemeth most probably the sense.

(5). Cambridge Bible–

32. vain boasting] The Hebrew root, which is rather rare, denotes in the cognate languages impudent boldness.

2. Pastors and Prophets that “do not visit” in Jeremiah 23. This introduced the subject of bad pastors and prophets, the very subject of Jeremiah 23–

NOTE: Lest these words seem intolerant and undemocratic to you, not nice in keeping with the Gospel of Niceness, just remember that these are necessary words from God Himself on how to identify bad and dangerous pastors and prophets. In short as the admonition of the Bible is from Jesus, we can not judge righteouness judgement, rather than appearance judgment, unless we use the very words and standards of the Bible. What was true in Jeremiah can be true of Osteen and others today, you judge for yourselves!

3. Pastors and Prophets that speak dreams rather than the Word of God in Jeremiah 23.
Nowhere in the Bible does God promise you, “wait two years and there will be an oil well or a gold mine in your backyard” as we hear Joel say and similar dreams and false promises of false comfort. What does God Himself say about this in Jeremiah?
“Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:32)

4. Pastors and Prophets that preach only peace when there is no peace. Temporarily we must step outside of Jeremiah 23, to get some background of what was happening in Judah during Jeremiah’s time, say in Jeremiah 6 near the beginning.

Even as the Christian fables of the falling away is a grassroots movement among the people of Israel, false prophets of today and in Jeremiah were created out of the wants and desires of the people. Notice in II Timothy 4:3,4 how that the itching ears teachers come from itching ears congregations and “out of their own desires” they heap up itching ears teachers.

NOTE: Granted today America is not threatened by God with imminent destruction as with Israel in the time of Jeremiah; however peace in this nation and in the world is not something that we can reasonable expect. What we can expect is the imminent Second Coming of Christ with the destruction of the whole world by fire. And any prophet, priest, or pastor that omits those Bible facts from his messages is a dreamer.

5. Pastors and Prophets that only comfort the people slightly. Once again we step outside of Jeremiah 23 to get the total context of Jeremiah and in the words of God Himself–
“They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.”
(Jeremiah 6:14)

(1). Sure every preacher, pastor, evangelist, and prophet provides some kind of comfort to the people, he would not be there if it were not so. Yet as compared to the admonished “preach the word” it often falls short of real comfort, it is only “slightly”. Only the complete intended message and messages from God Himself can provide comfort that is real, comfort that is complete.

(2). A good example from the many quotes from Osteen on facebook is the following:

Joel Osteen Quotes
April 17, 2016 ·
God has already done everything He’s going to do. The ball is now in your court. If you want success, if you want wisdom, if you want to be prosperous and healthy, you’re going to have to do more than meditate and believe; you must boldly declare words of faith and victory over yourself and your family.

It bears the incompleteness characteristic, a certain lightness and vanity, like all his Satan inspired and subtle quotes. (1) First of all God has not done everything He can do for you and will do for you; (2) it is not up to you, a superficial counting of self and not on Christ and the power of the Spirit within you if you have indeed been born again; (2) Oh there it is again, the Gospel of wealth and corrolary of success carrot, the appeal to the wants and desires of listners, and of course the wisdom you want, which is assumed is to be prosperous and healthy which is simply the Gospel again of Prosperity; (3) and the solution of salvation from Joel is to “boldly declare words of faith and victory over yourself and your family”–well in the first place what does that even mean some chant with holy water, and of course as always his advice turns into self help rather than depending on help from God.

6. Pastors and Prophets that teach the people to walk in vanity of Jeremiah 23. And the above vain and light quote, sort of like a false dream or vision that comes with chanting, brings us naturally to see what the teaching of vanity in the Bible and like in Joel means.
(1). The “walk in vanity” of Jeremiah 23:16.
“Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.”

a. First of all you will note that Joel seldom quotes as other preachers do from the Bible, does not justify his unfounded visions and dreams on the proof of the scripture; and in fact most preachers sadly miss any of the language and thoughts of the Bible. We naturally wonder what is the source of these bold statements except in dreams and statements. Every preacher has a library, it would be interesting to see what is the library of Joel and what are the major books which he notes, say for example Alice in Wonderland or How to win friends and influence people. How does he known so well what people want, or how to tell them what the people want to hear? If we knew the books Joel reads and on which he does research, we could know the secret of his success except for the fact that Satan is backing him. It certainly is not the Bible, and the Bible gets only some lip service like for example from Satan when he was tempting Jesus.
(2). And for more background on “vain” and “vanity” we must go back to Jeremiah 2.
“Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?” (Jeremiah 2:5)

(3). What does the phrase “make you vain” of Jeremiah 23:16; and furthermore since we are free Americans how could anybody MAKE us vain, or how did the bad and destructive pastors and prophets of Jeremiah make the people vain. We turn to some good commentaries again–
NOTE: Already we suspect that: (1) Osteens advice is superficial and makes one live in vanity with focus on themselves rather than Christ; and (2) it would have to be already what they want or desire, or they coud not yield themselves to the make over; or (3) most likely it is already the world way they live and think, just liking reinforcement from somebody famous. Sort of like real Christians appreciate encourgement from their respected conservative and Christian authors and authorities. After all, how could anyone be full of wind and bull that has grown one of the largest churche in the world, that writes best-selling books, and preaches to millions.
a. Make you vain from Ellicott’s commentary–
(16) They make you vain.—i.e., they befool, deceive you. As the next verse shows, they filled the people with vain hopes of peace. This was then, as always, the crucial test between the true prophet and the false. The one roused the conscience, caused pain and anger by his reproofs; the other soothed and quieted men with a false assurance (Jeremiah 6:14; Jeremiah 14:13). They invented a vision which did not come to them from the mouth of Jehovah. (Comp. Deuteronomy 13:1-5.)
b. Make you vain from the Cambridge Bible–
16. teach you vanity] deceive you with vain hopes, speak peace to those who are going on still in wicked courses. Cp. next v. This is a test whereby the false may be distinguished from the true prophet.
c. And lastly from the Pulpit Commentary–
Verses 16-22. – A warning addressed to the people against the false prophecies (comp. Ezekiel 13.). Verse 16. – They make you vain; i.e. fill you with vain imaginations. A similar phrase occurs in Jeremiah 2:5, on which see note. A vision of their own heart; the heart being the center of the intellectual as well as of the moral life, according to the Hebrew conception.
(4). “walked after vanity and are become vain” in Jeremiah 2:5.
“Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?” (Jeremiah 2:5)

a. From the Cambride Bible–

“…and are become vain] have their characters assimilated to the objects which they serve. Cp. Romans 1:21 f., they “became vain in their reasonings … they became fools.”

b. From Ellicott’s–

(5) Vanity.—In the special sense, as a synonym for idol-worship (Deuteronomy 32:21; 1Kings 16:13). As in the character of a husband wronged by his wife’s desertion Jehovah pleads with His people, and asks whether He has failed in anything.

c. In the bigger context of Matthew Henry–

2:1-8 Those who begin well, but do not persevere, will justly be upbraided with their hopeful and promising beginnings. Those who desert religion, commonly oppose it more than those who never knew it. For this they could have no excuse. God’s spiritual Israel must own their obligations to him for safe conduct through the wilderness of this world, so dangerous to the soul. Alas, that many, who once appeared devoted to the Lord, so live that their professions aggravate their crimes! Let us be careful that we do not lose in zeal and fervency, as we gain knowledge.

NOTE: If we could only know how many church members we suspect in Lakewood of which that is true as we have known some in Houston. By their fruits you shall know them, and if only we could see some fruits of Lakewood besides size, as Dobbins wrote “You can fill a church with empty people.”

7. Pastors and Prophets that ignore the burdens of God and the Word in Jeremiah 23.
This matter of burden of the Lord, burden of the Lord which most of the pastors and prophets were using to scoff in derision at Jeremiah is a little more complicated: God’s message to Jeremiah in exact words to give at the Temple every day, that of Jeremiah 7, was definitely a message of doom and God had forsaken Israel, would no longer listen to their prayers, and had set up for the nation of Babylon and Persia to conquer them, destroying Jerusalem. It was not a pleasant thing to hear, so when “burden of the LORD” was heard in Israel it was scoffing at realism, pessimism, and speaking in favor of peace and optimism, much like we hear often today in America. Somehow if any speaker if not nice and optimistic, they are immediately a BURDEN.

NOTE: We are not hearing “the burden of the LORD” from Israel today, they remember, nor do we hear it from bad and destructive pastors and prophets today even when they speak of Israel they tend to forget the “everlasting reproach”; however you do hear the same kind of peace and optimism without any “reproof, reproach, and correction” in their messages, just like Joel. Of course, it is impossible to reprove and reproach in preacher with a record setting marathon of smiles.
8. Pastors and Prophets that give visions out of their own heart in Jeremiah 23.
(1). Jeremiah 23:16–
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.

(2) What is the message God wanted the people to hear, that He gave word for word for Jeremiah to preach daily at the temple which they failed to heed; and the same message America needs to hear today. {the famous temple message of Jeremiah 7}

The Christian Fable of Self Indulgence

What Christian fables do Swaggert and Osteen share in common? It is the Christian fable of self-indulgence and self gratification, Osteen preaches it with a smile and the Swaggerts practice it with unknown tongues. Beside “turning aside into fables” the key phrase of that great passage on the apostasy of the Falling Away that of II Timothy 4:3,4 is “out of their own desires”. THEIR OWN DESIRES speaks in the Word of God of self-indulgence and self-gratification.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (II Timothy 4:3,4)

Most specifically and in the word of truth what Osteen has turned away from is the passage of I John 2:15-17, “not to love the world”. He has made a new religion out of a perversion of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (I John 2:15-17)
Most specifically and in the word of truth what the Swaggerts have turned away from is I Corinthians chapter 14. Face the truth what that chapter from the Holy Spirit and the Apostle Paul was written for during the first century and recorded for us to read and heed is: ENCOURAGE THE SPEAKING IN UNKNOWN TONGUES AS A MATTER OF PRIVATE DEVOTIONALS AND THE PREACHING IN KNOWN TONGUES AS A MATTER OF PUBLIC WORSHIP.

Since they both must know these two passages and know what they are doing is wrong, they are specifically gratifying their own desires, or being self-indulgent as gimmicks of increased popularity. The issue here is sound doctrine on the “faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3); namely if they can be so wrong on the verse of I John and so wrong on I Corithians 14. why do worshippers indulge them on Bible exposition. Of course we recognize that in the household of God, there is wood and clay as well as silver and gold; also that Swaggart is among the top 7 evangelists in America and Osteen has enough talent to attract millions to his books and ministry and grow a large church. Swaggert obviously has the gift of evangelism and music, not Bible exposition; and Osteen obviously has the talent to win friends and influence people with the world book of records on smiling so long, yet his talents in no way are to be confused with Bible exposition of sound doctrines, notwithstanding the beginning of the service where the Bible is held up.

The Christian Vocation, Ephesians 4

NOTE:  The Christian Vocation from Ephesians 4 will be developed both here on WordPress and in The Christian Vocation collection on Google Plus.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20 But ye have not so learned Christ;

21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.

28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Checklist for Doctrines of God and Paul study: the Tree of Life and Destructive Distortions of Bible Doctrines

NOTE:  Doctrines or Bible teachings need not seem isolated from life.  Here is a checklist you will want to keep in mind to be apologetically answered during Bible studies of the Life and Letters of the Apostle Paul as that former lawyer of the nation of Israel and then Apostle to the Greeks, Romans, and all Gentiles and even to the Jews of his own nation before they rejected him and his message of the Risen Christ.  It is advised that you keep a copy, download in PDF, and both check it during Bible study and afterwards.

The Fall of Man by Lucas Cranach, a 16th-century German depiction of Eden, with the tree of life (left) and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil

I. Absolute Authority of the Word of God and God Himself and the Sacred Tree of Life.
1. These 2 trees have a lot of mystery about them, but simple to know is that God told man and woman that if they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would die. To God it was a sacred tree, and His word was sacred and immutable, that is what is important.
2. Corollary to this is that God did not created us and this world, and therefore we have no obligation to honor, worship Him, and submit to His authority.
II. We as believers and believers in the priesthood of believers are captive to the authority of the World of God, and that no Peacemaking is possible apart from a submission to that authority of God.
1. Some do not respect and regard the authority of God Himself.
2. Some do not respect and regard the authority of the Word of God.
3. Some subvert that authority as subservient to their own authority.
4. Some believe in a certain evolution of religion, denominations, and the goodness of people that supplements the Word of God.
5. Many leaders believe that the average Christian is not capable of reading and finding truth for Himself in the Bible {soul competentcy and, freedom under God to learn, and the availability of the hermeneutics rules in the Bible Itself.}
5. Many regard their own wants, needs, and desires to be greater than the words and Word of God.
III. Dangerous and Destructive Distortions of Doctrine of teachings.
DEFINITION OF DESTRUCTIVE DOCTRINES: Any doctrine or teaching that gets in the way of man’s salvation, past, present, or future.
                                    a. In the nation and world at large.
1. Any support of a god or God rather than the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.
2. Any denial of the Divinity of Christ as the Son of God, and the Trinity of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

1. Unwarranted freedoms and interpretations of the Bible for personal status or gain.

NOTE:  very popular examples now are the Swaggerts and Joel Osteen, members of the household of God and workers on the same side for Christ–clay and wood instead of the silver and gold appearance they have, no matter how much we love them we love the Word and authority of God much more.  They share the same common background, or lack of background problem of little or no formal Bible training before they were under the gun to deliver.  (1) Like Charles Spurgeon would advise Jimmy and Joel, “Be not such a wiseacre as you think you have nothing to learn from the past; (2) get in step in your interpretations of the Bible with “the faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3), a common and shared faith believe it or not; and (3) there are other Christian preachers doing the work of Christ than you that are much more faithful to the accuracy of the Bible.

NOTES on the Tree of Life.
1. “The Tree of Life is a 2011 American experimental epic drama film written and directed by Terrence Malick and starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, and Jessica Chastain. The film chronicles the origins and meaning of life by way of a middle-aged man’s childhood memories of his family living in 1950s Texas, interspersed with imagery of the origins of the known universe and the inception of life on Earth.”

Evidence for Creation › Evidence from Scripture › Accurate Data › Historical Accuracy › Genesis Is Historically True › Sin Caused Death

The wonderful Tree of Life, discussed in the two “book ends” of the Bible, Genesis and Revelation, is one of the most fascinating (yet enigmatic) subjects in all the inspired word of God. It is first mentioned in Genesis 2:9:

And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
The fruit of this tree was “good for food” and Adam was told that he could “freely eat” of it (Genesis 2:16).

However, he was not required to eat its fruit to stay alive! He was created by God to live without dying, with only one restriction—that is, he was not to eat of “the tree of knowledge of good and evil,” for that would cause him to die (Genesis 2:17).

Later that same day, Eve was created, after Adam had first given names to each basic kind of animal—that is, specifically, only the “beast of the field” and the “fowl of the air” (Genesis 2:19), those that would be most likely to be in close proximity and possible fellowship with humans. He could easily have accomplished this in a few hours. Then Eve was created and was given the same instruction about eating as Adam had received, for she referred to these instructions when the serpent tempted her some time later.

Despite God’s clear warning, she and Adam both then rebelled against God’s word and ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and thus “sin entered into the world” (Romans 5:12). As a result, death also came into the world when God—true to His word—told them that “unto dust shalt thou return” (Genesis 3:19).

Furthermore, God’s Curse was pronounced on the very “ground” itself, out of which the bodies of both animals and men had been formed (Genesis 3:17; 1:24; 2:7), so that “the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now” (Romans 8:22). Thus “by man came death,” and “in Adam all die” (I Corinthians 15:21,22).

Then God cast Adam (with Eve) out of His beautiful garden, “lest he . . . take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever” (Genesis 3:22).

This seems to create a problem, possibly even an apparent contradiction in God’s words. God cannot contradict Himself, of course, so this is our problem, not His. Many so-called “progressive” creationists, as well as theistic evolutionists, argue that Adam and Eve must already have been eating regularly of the Tree of Life in order to stay alive, even before they sinned. Otherwise they would have died physically even if they had never sinned, or so the argument goes. Then they argue that the death pronouncement by God on their sin was a “spiritual” death, not physical.

This idea, of course, contradicts the clear statement of God that they would die physically, as well as spiritually, with their bodies returning to the dust. Furthermore, it makes a travesty of Christ’s death on the cross for our sins! Why would Christ have to die physically—and such a horrible physical death at that!—in order to atone for man’s “spiritual” death?

But our accommodationist brethren are anxious to preserve the “old-earth” dogma of the evolutionists at all costs and so are willing to adjust Genesis and the gospel in whatever ways they need to do so in order to avoid conflict with modern scientism. They insist that we must accept the evolutionary ages of geology with their billions of fossils and their billion-year spectacle of suffering and death before sin entered the world, in order to be acceptable to the intellectual community.

Nevertheless, the Genesis record—supported as literal history throughout all the rest of Scripture—is explicitly clear in teaching that physical suffering and death were introduced into the world only when Adam sinned. Thus, even if Adam and Eve had continued to eat the delicious fruit of the Tree of Life after they had sinned, they would eventually have died anyway because God had said so! However, this health-promoting fruit might have enabled them to live an inordinately long time before dying. Even as it was, Adam lived 930 years (Genesis 5:5).

The solution to our problem may well be that the Hebrew word ola (translated “for ever” in Genesis 3:22) could legitimately be translated “a very long time.” For example, in Isaiah 42:14 God says: “I have long time [olam] holden my peace.” It is obvious that “for ever” is not warranted in this context, for God will not hold His peace forever! Similarly, note Deuteronomy 33:15: “. . . precious things of the lasting [olam] hills.” The hills may last a long time, but not forever. The Hebrew olam is translated “old time” in Joshua 24:2, and is applied to the “ancient landmark” in Proverbs 22:28 and the “ancient people” in Isaiah 44:7.

There are a number of other such examples. The word olam certainly does not have to mean “forever” unless the context so indicates. Therefore, it would be legitimate to read Genesis 3:22 as follows: “. . . lest he . . . take also of the tree of life and eat and live an excessively long time.” There is thus no necessary indication in this verse that death was in the world before Adam brought sin into the world.

How long the Garden of Eden survived in the primeval world after the expulsion of Adam and Eve has not been revealed. If not destroyed earlier, it was certainly carried away by the devastating waters of the great flood, when “the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished” (II Peter 3:6).

But the marvelous Tree of Life will be planted once again “in the midst of the paradise of God” in the new earth which God will create some day and “they that do his commandments” will then “have right to the Tree of Life” (Revelation 2:7; 22:14).

And note its remarkable character! “On either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:2).

Not just one Tree of Life as in the original Garden of Eden, but many such trees will be planted there with their beautiful and nutritious fruits, freely available to all who “do His commandments”—that is, to everyone in the holy city. The fruit will be different every month,** but always “pleasant to the sight, and good for food.” Furthermore, its leaves will also be of great value, since they are for “the healing of the nations.” This cannot mean that, without these healing leaves the people in these “nations of them which are saved” (Revelation 21:24) would otherwise become sick and die because God has assured us that in the holy city, “there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:4). The leaves will not be needed to heal sickness any more than the fruit of that original Tree of Life in Eden was needed to prevent death.

It is significant that the Greek word translated “healing” in this verse (therapeia) is translated “household” in Matthew 24:45 and Luke 12:42, referring to the staff of servants employed in keeping the affairs of a great house running efficiently. It is the source of our English word “therapy.” Thus, the leaves of the tree will be for the “therapy,” or the effective services, of the nations in the new earth. As the fruits of the tree will surely contain many nutrients for happy vigorous service by Christ’s servants in the ages to come (Revelation 22:3), so its leaves will contain a complex of chemical substances useful in the occupations and general economy of those ages.

It is pointless to speculate as to the exact nature of the Tree of Life, for God has not told us, and there is no tree like it in the present world. The same is true with reference to the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God is well able to create any kind of tree He wishes, and we do well to leave it at that!

Because of the marvelous nature of the Tree of Life, however, the writer(s) of Proverbs used it (under divine inspiration of course) as a symbol of four wonderful truths.

First, the true wisdom “is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her” (Proverbs 3:18). That true wisdom can be none other than Christ (I Corinthians 1:30, Colossians 2:3).

Second, “the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life” (Proverbs 11:30). Indeed, “the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth” (Ephesians 5:9). A life such as that will be like a tree of life to all who encounter it.

Third, “when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life” (Proverbs 13:12). That is, fulfilled hope, like true wisdom and righteousness is so vitalizing as to be a source of renewed vigorous life.

Fourth, “a wholesome tongue is a tree of life” (Proverbs 15:4). Therefore, “let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man” (Colossians 4:6).

We can eagerly, yet patiently and fruitfully, look forward to enjoying the delicious, nourishing fruit of the Tree of Life in the holy city some day. In the meantime, we can pray that God will help us to be like little, life-giving trees ourselves through growing in true wisdom, living righteously, offering hope to the lost in our midst, and using our God-given abilities of communication graciously and meaningfully to all those we meet.

** Note the incidental reference to “months.” Time had a beginning when God created it (Genesis 1:1), but it will have no end. The words “time no longer” in Revelation 10:6 are in the sense of “delay no longer.”

The tree of life (Hebrew: עֵץ הַֽחַיִּים‎, StandardEtz haChayim) is a term used in the Hebrew Bible that is a component of the world tree motif.[1]
In the Book of Genesis, the tree of life is first described in Genesis 2:9 as being planted with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Hebrew: עֵץ הַדַּעַת‎) “in the midst of the Garden of Eden” by Yahweh Elohim (Hebrew: יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים‎). In Genesis 3:24 cherubim guard the way to the tree of life at the east end of the Garden. The tree of life has become the subject of some debate as to whether or not the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is the same tree.[2]
Outside of Genesis, the term “tree of life” appears 11 times in the Bible: in Proverbs (3:18; 11:30; 13:12; 15:4), 2 Esdras (2:12; 8:52), 4 Maccabees (18:16), and Revelation (2:7; 22:2,14,19).

“Tree of life –

The concept of a tree of life is a widespread mytheme or archetype in the world’s mythologies, related to the concept of sacred tree more generally,[1] and hence in religious and philosophical tradition.

The expression Tree of Life was used as a metaphor for the phylogenetic tree of common descent in the evolutionarysense in a famous passage by Charles Darwin (1872).[2]

The tree of knowledge, connecting to heaven and the underworld, and the tree of life, connecting all forms of creation, are both forms of the world tree or cosmic tree, according to the Encyclopædia Britannica,[3] and are portrayed in various religions and philosophies as the same tree.[4]
